Basketball The '58-'59 Cowboy cagers compiled a 13-7 record of which they can certainly be proud. One of the highlights of the season was the Cowboys' victory over an undefeated Hillsboro team. The Cowboys, under Coach Bill Leonard's capable guidance, improved noticeably as the season progressed. This is evident from the fact that three teams who defeated the Cowboys early in the season suffered set- backs in return games. In regular season play Madonna averaged 58.7 points a game while holding their opponents to 52.2 points per game. Coach Leonard deserves a large share of the credit for the winning season. Jim Schoff's fine ball handling, Mick Scully's rebounding, and the shooting of John and Bill Shelton were also major factors in the winning season.
