1' Q 3-'M Q .1-1 .1... .L Somewhere in the midst of Madonna High School, invisible to the eye, there lies a great pulsing golden heart which began to beat several years ago when Madonna was first born. Throughout the years it has been kept in existence because of the Madonnian spirit. Every Madon- nian has become in some way a part of that heart. It has become greater because of the wonderful and complex individuality of those who have given it life. Its golden quality has become richer through an increase of knowledge in the formation of characterg through the satisfaction of achievement and the warmth of friendships. lts beat has quickened in expressions of joy and in the silence of sadnessg in rapturous laughter and in the tears of parting. Each year as a class graduates. each individual leaves at Madonna the most precious of all gifts-a portion of her own heart. Each vear a new class enters to become aware of the riches it has inherited. and takes upon itself the obligation to preserve and increase those riches. And so that heart continues to grow greater, richer and fuller. lt con- tinues to beat as a symbol of greatness of the individuals who gave it its existence. The Madonnians will always. in heart and in action, be part of Madonna High School.

This union is competently maintained by the zeal and leadership of the Madonnians in the Student Council. Consisting of National Honor Society members. division officers, and homeroom presidents, the Council successfully enforces the rules and regulations of the school and promotes a proper attitude in all its activities. Through the guiding hands of the school government, harmonious relationships are upheld between teacher and student, assuring both a true democratic school society. Members of the Student Government, comprised of division officers and honorary freshmen hall guards, assist the faculty in the promotion of the proper observance of school regulations.
