l just as a small child must learn to walk. cling- ing helplessly to the sturdy hands of his parents. so. too, the Madonnians must need competent hands to guide them as they take their first un- steady steps in life. Fully conscious of her position and the im- portance of her responsibilities, our principal. Sister Mary Hugoline. performs this task with an assurance and reliability. so characteristic of her temperament. Possessing the virtues of patience. understanding and wisdom, uniquely blended with the qualities of scholarly intelligence. human friendliness. and vigorous humor, she retains a fairyland magic which instantly permeates all those who surround her. ln her roles as teacher. parent. and director. she advises us in our problems. listens to our complaints. copes with our failures. and rejoices in our achievements with a personal inter- est. genuinely appreciated by the faculty and the student body. And so we can see it is only through the firm but gentle hands of our dear principal.
