LIGGETT BAILEY The High School ns n whole shares the pride which the class of 1 HX feels toward T. Liggett Bailey. To young men to whom the high school course seems long this young man should be an inspiration. After he had fin- ished at M. II. S. he attended the Louisville Medical School where he graduated with high honors. After a year’s Service in a Louisville hospital he is now ready to go to New York City for a post-graduate course. All young men should not study medicine but they all need this young man’s sticktoitivcness.” Many changes have taken place since last year. Both the faculty and student body have increased in size. The spirit of the school has been “Progress and Ad- vancement ’ and fresh interest has been developed along many lines. The work has been interrupted but twice. Lour days were lost because of scarlet fever, and three days of rest were granted the students while the faculty attended the Kentucky Educational Association. The literary work has been placed on a substantial basis and next year’s plans have already been formed. The three athletic teams have won over half their games The 27-0 defeat of McLean College by our foot ball team was to many a pleasant surprise. Two new ten- nis courts are in use. T he Lyceum Lecture Course was a success. Next year’s programme will contain one more number. The Quartette is improving and ail orchestra has been organized. In all the year has been a successful one. OTHER QUARTERS. THE NEW HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING IS THE RESULT. M. H. S. Girls Madisonville does not expect to win nil the Oratorical Contests hut she always likes to make the others hustle. In this year's contest we were satisfied. Roy Barnhill made a great speech for a freshman. Wait till he gets to he a senior! Barnhill is the type of student our school desires to cultivate. He takes advantage of every opportunity we have to offer. He is a strong contender for all athletic honors, he never misses a literary society and his scholaiship is always satisfactory.
