Joe Wagner, Donna Hill, and Richard Bricker assistedher. Our journey came to an abrupt stop on September 29. This was the freshman initiation. Our first party was a hay ride which started at Jim Schmeltzer's and ended at Joan Trowbridge's where we had a chili supper. Later another hay ride was held at Eugene's. The last event during that year was a party at the school. In the sophomore year we chose Joe as president, Duane as vice-president, Donna as secretary, and Richard as treasurer. Activities during this year were a hay ride at Duane's, a skating party at Osceola, and a party at the school. As jaunty juniors, we were very busy. Leadingus were Joe, presidentg Eugene, vice-presidentg secretary, Betty and treasurer, Richard. On October 28 and Z9 our dramatic talent took wings and presented The Adorable Imp . It was directed by Mrs. Haslanger. Magazines were sold, and Eugene proved himself to be thebest salesman. During Christmas vacation we had a sledding party at Donna Hill's. The final party of the year was held at the school with, the sophomore class. The year of years found us with twenty-eight in our class. Once again Joe reigned and Eugene, Donna, and Ted assisted him. We had a dance at the Hillside in October and a bake sale at Wyatt in November. During Christmas vacation we again went to Donna's for a party. Commencing the final events was the class play, Hobgob1in House, which was presented in April. Then came the junior-senior prom on April 22. Baccalaureate on May 14 was followed by graduation on May 15. Climaxing our high school days was the senior trip to Niagara Falls via. Detroit. We returned home looking forward to an adventurous future. Signed: SENIOR CLASS OF '50 Sponsored by EDW. LIENHART 8: SONS, Wakarusa 12 CAM!! I-010 ec? May 30, 1960 Dear Shelia, Ten years have come and gone since we were together as a class at Madison. After much reminiscing, l decided thata brief account of your classmates might shed some sunlight your way. Doing missionary work in Japan doesn't sound too cheerful to me. Some time ago it was my most honored privilege to act as Mistress of Ceremonies at one of Madison Township's distinguished organizations of social seeking women of today, The Order of Married Women--No. 6. The program began with a gracious rendition of the Piano Concerto in Biff by the now famous musician Mrs. Vincal Gervucnbeci, the former Arlene Geyer. We were then led in singing Auld Lang Syne by the soprano soloist, Mrs. J. S. Choker, fEsther Frickl. It was then my privilege to introduce the guest speaker, Mr. T. J. James. Mr. James has proven quite successful inthe field ofnovelistic work. This field has been quite an asset to the James family since he can supply his own reading material. I-le reviewed his latest pocket novel, Jesse James, My Uncle. To everyone's dismay the program was bluntlyinterruped by a zealous saleswoman of mousetraps. fMartha Adams, As the program came to a close, one of the most startling events occurred when the former Betty Gostola was stricken with an exaspirating attack of cat fobia. Immediatelywe summoned Dr. D. J. Schrock, who is practicing medicine in Madison Center. Cecelia Monhaut serves as his nurse. Then occasion arose to thank the R-C-A Modern Printing Co. For their fine sub- mission of programs and decorations. This firm is composed of some of our own '50 graduates. Doris Anthony holds the position of feature editor, Delores Conrad is now art editorg and Norma Reidenbach is private secretary to the editor-in-chief, Devon Kobold. The program was closed with a prayer by the Rev. E. L. Schutz, pastor of the Snookerville Reformed Church. Couples attending the program were Mr.'and Mrs. fMardell Anthonyl Wilbur Christman, Mr. and Mrs. fPhyl1is Young, Roland Klein, Mr. and Mrs. fGeraldine Dies, Duane Laidig, Mr. and Mrs. fNancy Stuber, Richard Bricker, and Mr. and Mrs. fBetty Gostolal Joe Wagner. Mr. and Mrs. fDonna Hillj John Fehr's absence was due to illness in the family. Mr. C. A. Stuber, Mr. F. A. Beutel, and Mr. C. J. Beutel united to enter the doorway to fortune with their newly established manufacturing firm in Jonesville. Well, Shelia Iwill close now for it is almost dinner time, but I certainly am proud of our 1950 graduating, class. Aren't you?' Your '50 graduating mate, Roma Wyman P. S. Activity was the keynote of the Mad- ison Band this year. The band held afall and spring concert, entertained at plays, gave a concert in Wakarusa in the fall, and ofcourse, provided music at the ball games. The marching band, led by Dorothy Schlarb, drum majorette, and Marilyn Priest, Jane Schurr, and Nila Marker, baton twirlers, always put on abig show between the halves of the first-team games. Besides forming the letter for each school, other formations were made such as a bicycle, a soldier, and a horse- shoe. We are proud to have such a fine organization in our school. For this we give much credit to the director, Mr. Edgar Horein.
