Coach Stretch Strother. Row 1: Gary Blackie, Chuck Hudson, Rick Anderson, Charlie Rizzo, Mark Nixon, Tom Barclay, Al Mantey. Row 2: Skip Kennedy, Gary Fedele, Dale Materna, Tim Johnson, Bern Hoyt, Mat Calderon, Bruce Blair. Row 3: Greg Joiner, Mike Rose, Jim Jackson, Cal Birman, Rod Wiley, Conrad Potemra, Gary Davis. Cross Country has successful season. September 18 — The Blue Streaks hosted the Kirtland Hornets in their season opener, crushing Kirtland 16-41. Led by Matt Calderon on a dampened course, the Streaks took the first four places. September 24 — Icy winds and rain blew across the Chapel Hills Golf Course as Chuck Hudson led Madison to a close margin of victory over the Harbor Mariners. September 29 — Streak harriers posted their second league victory as they clipped the Perry Pirates easily. Again led by Matt Calderon, nine Streaks finished in the top 14. October 1 — Madison edged the defending champs 25-30, taking over sole possession of first place in the W.R.L. Matt Calderon finished closely behind the Edgewood Warrior's Glen Dawson. October 9 — The Streaks clipped the Riverside Beavers in this non league encounter. Cold temperatures couldn't hold down Matt Calderon, Calvin Birman, and Rick Anderson who broke the course record. October 13 — Upon resuming league action the Blue Streaks edged the Harbor Mariners in a close meet. Only a strong effort prevented defeat. October 20 — A perfect record was put on the line when the Blue Streaks met the Edgewood Warriors. Defeat was the outcome in a terrific Warrior race. October 27 — Madison closed out a long successful season against the Perry Pirates. A spectacular race climaxed the Streaks season with a co- championship as the reward. 22

 • t Jk ■ • 1 • Vv . . £ 'V — %. : i. . - - : - • A. w v To raise money for twenty new uniforms this year, the band marched in the Mardi Gras parade at Fairport, held Tag Day, sponsored a smorgas- bord, and received proceeds from the sale of the football tickets. The basic program of the band's shows at foot ball games includes a drill, formations, a dance specialty number, and the script M. Highlight of the season came this year when the eighty-two member MMHS marching band, along with four other Lake County high school bands, played at the Indians game at Cleveland Stadium. Coming out this year will be the band's L.P. record, consisting of school songs, favorite marches, and specialty numbers. Officers of this year's band are; President, Dale Materna,- Vice-president, Cheryl Hathaway, and Secretary-Treasurer, Barbara Glavan.
