IN MEMORIAM ASK NOT.............. In the passing away of this school year, a great and wonderful man has also passed away from us. The day of the tradgic event was mixed with shock and grief for all of us. John Fitzgerald Kennedy was not only our loss, but the worlds loss too. But why was such a great person killed? Was it because he was the President, or that he strongly upheld his beliefs, or because of his wealth? No, it isn’t for any of these reasons. It’s a reason that should stun and shock the world, and that includes all of us in our little world, here at Madison High. It was because of a terrible thing called hatred. Not only the hatred of one man for another, but the hatred thousands of people are showing every day. If they want to truly build a memorial for John Kennedy, then let us start a war on hatred, right here, right now, in our own little world! Men are writing the praises of him, men are building statues of him, but men are not putting hatred out of their hearts, and this is what he would have waned most. Re- member, he asked not what his country could do for him, but what he could do for his country. Let’s start asking ourselves the same thing and thus truly build a memorial for John Fitzgerald Kennedy.
