HOMECOMING 1964 October 4 marked the 1963-1964 annual Homecoming football game. The dance, sponsored by the senior class, was held on Saturday, October 5. Congratulations! The Madison Blue Streaks played host to the Edgewood Warriors in a game which proved to be rewarding to the Streaks, as they tromped the Warriors 36-14. Although faced with very cold weather, a huge crowd showed up to enjoy the festivities during halftime. At the beginning of the halftime all the Homecoming can- didates rode in cars around the outside of the field. As each candidate came forth, they were met and escorted by their fathers into the heart formation arranged by the Madison High School marching band. While being escorted into the heart, the band played Sweethearts of Sigma Chi. As the tension of the candidates mounted to a climax, it was an- nounced that Miss Linda Wester had been chosen as the 1963 Homecoming Queen. Senior band member, Tom Smith, pre- sented the queen with a bouquet of red roses. The queen’s court consisted of Shirley Guyer, Marje Hummel, Gwen Ivan- cic and Janis Lintern. The climax of this wonderful weekend was the dance being held on Saturday in the auditorium cafeteria. Adorning the far end of the auditorium was the queen s throne, where decorations of pink and white were to be seen. In addition to the decorations there were also pink and white balloons floating high to the ceiling. The highlight of the evening was the crowning of Queen Linda Wester by the football captain, Tim Behm. After the coronation, Queen Linda and her escort, Norman Bager, had the pleasure of beginning a dance w'hile the other attendants and their escorts followed. The music was provided by the Jack Clark Orchestra. The other attendants and their escorts were: Shirley Guyer and Chuck Houston, Marje Hummel and Ed Shook, Gwen Ivancic and Jim Reese and Janis Linetrn and Brad Palmer. Cheesecake.
