Madison Memorial High School salutes the generous people of Madi- son for supplying the money to enlarge our mechanical arts building. With the new forty by six foot shop addition, the mechanical arts depart- ment is able to offer three separate areas of development. In addition to our former wood and drafting area, we are now intro- ducing an all metal section which includes courses in sheetmetal, ore and glass welding, electricity, machine shop and automotives. New equipment includes a bench shear which cuts metal to one-six- teenth of an inch, a brake for bending metal, three machine lathes and a shaper which cuts metal vertically to an angle. The teachers of mechanical arts now have their own private offices in their own building. It is also interesting to note that our own high school boys are doing much of the final work themselves. Mr. Mackey demonstrates the working parts of new lathes in metals section of shop. 13

Steering Committee Front, Mr Barr, Mr. Stoll, Mr. Quiggle. Rear. Mrs. Behm. Ardythe Ashley. Jim He'iduk, Lenore Laslco at the wheel. OPERATION STADIUM A dream come true! Operation Stadium, the project started by the students, under the Steering Committee's leadership is a success! The students of Madison Memorial High School saw their dream realized on September 18th for that was the night that the Memorial Stadium was dedicated. During the school years 1958-1960, Operation Stadium was the project of the entire school. All the students and many outside groups supported this worthy endeavor. We all wanted our football field to be a part of our high school! Money was raised in a variety of ways. The class of '59 started the ball rolling by donating the scoreboard. Each of the classes pledged a certain amount with the gold star going to the class of '64. These students, without a penny in their treasury, really got out and worked. They sold everything that was sellable and came in. with the’second highest pledge! We are proud of our enthusiastic younger classmates! 14
