ANNUAL STAFF of 1955 THE CAULDRON MADISON MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL Chuck Woidtke BUSINESS MANAGER Madison, Ohio IN MEMORIAM With thoughtfulness, we wish to include his picture among those of the class of 1955, and the other many friends here, so that memor- ies will linger and be complete. To Larry Hupertz we dedicate this, our yearbook. ALMA MATER Oh, we love our Alma Mater Alma Mater fair and true, And though we wander far away We'll often think of you. From the day we entered high school To the day we'll say good-bye. Our memories have gathered Like the clouds in the sky. Though life be sad or gay Our thoughts will always be Among the friends we knew so very well, No matter where we roam, No matter where we stray, Our memories of Madison will stay. Oh, we love our Alma Mater, Alma Mater fair and true, And though we wander far away We'll often think of you. MESSAGE TO THE SENIOR CLASS Much of the confusion in our lives comes because we do not have a true perspective of things. The problems that con- front and baffle us may become barriers to a complete and use- ful life, or they may be only experiences, which will enrich us and make us stronger. Which they will be, will depend on our viewpoint. If we take first things first, we will find our- selves more able to cope with events as they appear. WRIGHT English, History Librarian REMEMBER THIS? CLASS HISTORY On a warm day in September, 1950, we entered M.M.H.S, feeling small and out of place. Our Homeroom Teachers were Mr. Meyers and Mr. Brockett. To lead us through the year, we elected Sally Mavko as President and to assist her Dave Hayes, Vice-President; Janice Sidley, Secretary; and Tony Incorvati, Treasurer. Jim Stevens was chosen as our Student Council Re- presentative. We treated ourselves to a hayride and a class picnic at Madison-on-the-Lake. The class awarded Sally Mavko and Joe Pocza with the Citizenship Awards. Freshmen I We were very happy and proud to at last be a part of M.M.H.S. and we slowly overcame our fears with Mrs. Behm and Mr. Hagen acting as our advisors. For our officers we elected President, Joe Pocza; Vice-President, Sally Mavko; Secretary, Carol Jenkins and Treas- urer, Mary Lou Hribar. Our Student Council Representative was Linda Behm. Early in the year we treated ourselves to a Soc Hop. (Will you ever forget Linda Behm and Slavo Ruzzic, who reigned as King and Queen?) As money making projects we sponsored a Skating Party at Austingburg and a successful Bake Sale. Early in May we had a May Day Dance, which turned out very well. We ended the year with a class picnic at Madison-on-the-Lake. Entering our Sophomore year, we voted Linda Behm, President; Regina Kaferle, Secretary; and Chuck Woidtke, Treasurer. Our Representatives to Student Council were Linda Behm and Dave Braski. Our Homeroom Advisors were Mr. Rickelman and Mrs. Trescott. Getting down to business we had a Bake Sale and sponsored the Annual Talent Show and the Sophomore Carnival. We also had a Christmas Dance. Bringing the year to a close we had our class picnic at Madison- on-the-Lake. September, 1953, found us back at M.M.H.S. as Juniors. We were proud to be Upperclass- men, but we knew that a lot of work lay ahead of us for this year was to be our biggest and busiest year. Our advisors that year were Mr. Andrews and Mr. Rickelman. We chose Dave Braski, President; Nancy Semones, Vice-President; Janice Sidley, Secretary; and Chuck Woidtke, Treas- urer. To represent us in Student Council we elected Linda Behm, Sally Mavko, and Carol Jenkins. To raise money, we sold candy in the lower hall at noon and we also sold magazines and stationery. After the Magazine Sales we treated ourselves to a class party. After long hours of hard work and loads of fun, we put on one of the best plays ever presented at M.M.H.S.--“Hillbilly Weddin’. At the end of basketball season, we sponsored the annual ‘Basketball’ Homecoming. The queen for the night was Betty Fish and her attendants were Martha Janovsky, Barb Bush and Mary Anne Dynes. At last the big day came .... May 15 ... . The Prom. After long hours of planning and preparing we held our Junior-Senior Prom at Madison Country Club. It was a beautiful event and we will long remember it. Nancy Semones was chosen to go to Girls’ State and Dave Braski and Dave Hayes were chosen to attend Boys State. Bringing the year to a close, we had a wonder- ful class picnic at Sidley’s Beach. Returning to M.M.H.S. we were happy to be back but; we sadly realized that this was our last year. Our wonderful Advisors were Mr. Barr and Mr. Grafel. We re-elected Dave Braski as President and for his assistants we elected Chuck Woidtke, Vice-President; Carol Jenkins, Sec- retary; and Don Norris, Treasurer. We were represented in Student Council by Linda Behm, Sally Mavko, Joe Pocza, and Nancy Semones. Janice Sidley was chosen to be Cauldron Editor. After the Madison-Burton game we sponsored the annual “Football Homecoming. The team chose Betty Fish to reign as Queen and her attendants were Sally Mavko, Janice Sidley, Linda Behm and Nancy Semones. We continued selling milk in the lower hall at noon. Early in the year we treated ourselves to a class party. After many hours of work and many laughs, we finally presented our Senior play with the aid of Mrs. Trescott. It was a big success and we all enjoyed it! We had our class picnic and we all had fun. Slowly we walk away from M.M.H.S. our long- awaited diplomas in hand. We have much to thank M.M.H.S. for. She has taught us to get along and to strive for what we want. We leave her now to follow in our own paths.
