Cktsts jffsfofy As beginning Freshmen we were faced not only with new challenges and a new enviroment but also with the idea of meeting new classmates - consolidation Like all Freshmen we were green - not just plain green but a brilliant flaring green Through the leadership of our class officers: President Harry Knight- Vice-President Dawn Rivenburg- Secretary LaVerne Watson and Treasurer Larry Knight- we were able to overcome the barriers of our Freshman year The Freshman class was well represented by our homecoming candidate Dawn Rivenburg Our homeroom teachers C Mrs Gladys Young Mrs Norma Bundy Mr. Jack Norris and Mrs Ruth Marshall guided us through this year of uncertainity Our Sophomore year a step further into the future was truly rewarding With great enthusiasm and determination we proceeded through this year with the guidance of our class officers: Deems Webster President- Danny McFa1l V1ce-President- Diana Angel Secretary- and Gwen Joyner Treasurer Miss Maude Webster Mr George Bryant Mrs Violet Suly and Mrs Lila Robertson were our homeroom teachers this year LaVerne Watson was chosen as Sophomore Homecoming Candidate We made the year complete with the organization of two clubs - Junior Civitans and Junior Civinettes Our Junior year was filled with hard work and much enthusiasm Again with the help of our homeroom teachers Mr T L Knight Mrs Ruth Thomas and Miss Betty Jean Steele we were able to make the most of this year Being faced with many decisions our class officers: Danny Treasurer- were successful in the strife With much effort and hard work we were able to crown our homecoming candidate Gwen Joyner queen for 1961 The Junior-Senior Prom the first to be held in the new high school auditorium was a big success Presented with a decorating problem we spent much time in preparation for this momentous occasion For some of us summer vacation was long but for others it was over too soon! At last we had reached the highest peak of our high school days - Seniors. Having received our class rings we wore them proudly from that moment Guided by our homeroom teachers: Mrs Elizabeth Smith Miss Maude Webster and Mrs Loraine Scott we completed our Senior year with little difficulty Our class officers: Ronnie Cassidy President- Perry Vernon Vice-President- Carolyn Schultz Secretary- Ken Boisseau Treasurer- and LaVerne Watson Reporter- REALIZING their responsibilities to the class endeavored to do their best Elected to the yearbook were: Editor-in Chief Betty Jane Williams- Business Manager Richard Highfill- Assistant Business Manager Gwen Joyner- Advertising Manager LaVerne Watson- Sports Editor Danny McFall- Art Editor John Roberts- Photographer Becky Knight' Typists: Brenda Rominger Kaye Barrett Sheryl Burton Betty Milks Nancy Neal and Gail Hazelwood. Our advisor was Mrs Loraine Scott.
