Deja Boo Halloween was a night of haunted houses, scary movies, trick-or -treating, and toilet papering for students. Kids roamed the streets with sacks of candy, police offi- cers tried to maintain order, and screams came from haunted houses. A partially cloudy sky lit by a half moon loomed above creating a somewhat erie feeling. A slight rain fell, just enough to get things wet. Even though the night was dreary, students left their homes in search of fun. ' There were not many people on Main street, said Marilyn Grover, I guess people did things in houses or to houses. People had the traditional halloween trick played on their houses. The next morn- ing wet white goo that once was toilet paper remained on lawns and shrubs. Mark Denney said We got it real bad. I ' m sure they used at least twenty rolls. Some students stayed home or went to a friend ' s house to watch scary videos or scare the trick-or-treaters that came by. Others thought it would be fun to drag Main and see who could get pulled over by the police the most. I got pulled over five times, said Shawn Boice. They must have thought we were doing something for sure, but we weren ' t. Stuart Brown said, I went to a haunted house. It was real stupid, but I went with a girl so it was worth while. Haunted houses seemed to attract the attention of hundreds of students. There were over six to choose from in Rexburg alone. I worked in a haunted house, said Jim Taylor. I couldn ' t believe how much fun it was scaring people. It didn ' t matter what stu- dents did on halloween night, they all found some- thing that wasn ' t too mis- chievous but still fun. 26 Halloween

Shakin 9 A Black-and-white theme, hours of decorating, hundreds of students, and three amigos all came to the bobcat boo- gie. After school Friday the bobcadettes started decorating for the couples who would be in attendance the next night. They began quickly organizing groups to hang the black and white paper representing the dance theme, Salt and Pepper . The next morning they got together to finish deco- rating for one of the best dances of the year. By mid- afternoon the commons was decorated and the M-TV room had a checkered wall with bean bags in place. The bandroom was set up for two picture lines with black and white backgrounds. Salt and Peper Inc. brought in their sound and light show while the Bobca- dettes hurried home to get ready for their dates. The Bocadettes invited their parents and the faculty to participate in a parents hour at 8:00. An hour of older selec- tions and slower music was played for the adults, and then the dance began. After going to dinner and other activities, girls and their dates began showing up to dance. At half-time, couples grabbed a cookie and a glass of sprite before gather- ing around to watch the three amigos (Tracy Ard, Dalin Hunt, and Brad Bar- rett) perform a lip-sinc to the song l, La Bamba. The dance continued after half-time with the Bob- cadettes and their dates tak- ing the floor for the next dance. Even though the Bobca- dettes sponsored the Bobcat Boogie for a fund raiser, they would put on the dance anyway just for fun. Couples that went to the dance were able to hear the latest music hits played by the dance and music company Salt and Pepper . Bobcat Boogie 25
