The Board of Trustees of the Madison School District is made up of five members elected from five trustee areas in the district. These five members represent all the people of the district and set the policies which run the district. The current Board includes Stan Sutton, a farmer as Board President; Jim Sessions, Dean of Student Life of Ricks College; Brian Stan- ton, an English teacher from Ricks College; Doratha Young, a housewife; and Moana Boyle, a housewife and former English teacher. The Board is responsible to develop all of the policies governing the district and these include policies dealing with school com- munity relations; behavior of students; management of the instructional programs including setting graduation requirements; negotiations parameters for dealing with the paying of teachers and other employees; the hiring and dismissal of all employees; the development of a master plan including the building of new buildings, repairing old buildings, and maintaining a transportation fleet; the provision for special services in the district; the approval and management of a budget; and establishing policies on the operation of the Board itself. One of the biggest problems facing the Board is the knowledge that Madison High School will grow from a school of 600 to a school of 1200 students within the next ten years. The most important function of the Board is to represent the community in helping Madison have the finest schools in Idaho. Madison High School is accepted as one of the best high schools in Idaho and the students have done very well in extracurricular as well as academic activities. Dr. Edward E. A few staff members bringing out a little of themselves. m not going to kiss your hand, Noreen! Now listen guys ... the deadline is tomorrow With the encouragement and supervision of our editor — Chimane Belnap and assistant editor - Noreen Vance, we have spent many long hours, working to meet our deadlines. Whether printing pictures, losing negatives, redrawing layouts, soliciting ads, creating copy, or finding ourselves in a dither over deadlines, we have learned what it takes to make a year- book click . . . yes, even the aspirins were needed at times. But in the midst of a hectic sixth hour, we can recall some good times, and Madisonian to us means treasured and lasting friendships. Mom Hunter was our advisor. The entire community was alerted to the fact that Haley ' s Red Machine had taken state for the se- cond year in succession. The torturous five a.m. spud-harvest practices and the miserable after-school tussles had really paid off. However, somewhere along the schedule, Madison lost their top ratings in hard-fought games with Shelley and Rigby — los- ing by mere one or two heartbreakers. Varsity Coach Jerry Grover remarked that We have a great team. They saved the best until last!
