CLASS OF ' 53 Left to right, seated: Sharon Parker, recreation leader; Marsha Hegsted, secretary; Patty Topham, cheer leader; Gail Nelson, cheer leader; Jannette Jackomsen, vice president. Standing: Mr. Payne, adviser; Robert Keele, athletic manager; Douglas Swend- sen, representative; Lee Morrell, president; Dwight Spaulding, cheer leader; Ronald Rigby, reporter; Mrs. Bigler, adviser. This school year of 1950-51 has seen the Sophs really go places. This year the class has gone in for social, athletic, and intellectual activities. Early in December the social season was started off with a bang- up roller skating party followed up by another successful party later in the year. The Sophomore Week was made better than ever by an outstanding assembly and the ever-popular Sophomore Frolic. To top the record the Sophomore squad of basketballers per- formed an almost impossible feat by overcoming all classes and walk- ing away with the Class Series Championship, and our class was awarded first prize for its Pep Vodie skit, which was very clever. These were two of the highlights of the year. The Sophomores ' aim is to keep at it and by the time we grad- uate to have made a name for ourselves and Madison High. 26
