1946-1947 As Freshmen we entered Madison High with the intention of seeking knowledge. It was quite a drop from being masters in the eighth grade to being underdogs as Freshmen. We were very confused when trying to find our right classes and we won- dered why we had to sit in the right-hand section of the auditorium. Many of our class members went out for football, basketball, and track. Our class officers were: Brent Covington, Var Manwaring, Lester Petersen, Frank Thompson, Kenneth Catmull, Robert Taylor, Gary Arnold, Gloria Hinckley, Barbara Keith, Myra McCulloch and Kirma Parkinson. Mr. Sanford Harrison was our adviser. 1947-1948 When our second year started, we had more confidence in ourselves. Our Sopho- more Frolic was a roaring success as was Sophomore Week. Many fellow classmen were playing football and working out in track, and Verl Arnold was playing basketball with the main string. Other members were in the band and pep band and on the Madisonian and M News staffs. Our class officers were Lee Cook, Maureen Ricks, Frank Thompson, Lester Petersen, Brent Covington, Verl Arnold, Yuriko Shiratori, Ruth Potter, Marlene Terry, and Shirley Ricks. Our adviser was Mr. C. Drue Cooper. 1948-1949 We were Juniors now, and in the upper classes. Our class was not nearly as large as it was when we were Freshmen, yet, we were a very active class. Yuriko S. was a student body officer and many of our members were on the Madisonian and M News staffs. The various clubs and organizations in school in- cluded many of the Juniors. Three of our members were playing first string basketball, and several others were on the football and track teams. Gary Arnold was co-captain of the track team. Our class officers were Maureen Ricks, Brent Covington, Lester Petersen, Vera Cheney, Frank Thompson, Jean Keppner, John Allen, Yuriko Shiratori, Alice Cantwell, Gloria Hinckley, and Marlene Terry. Mr. S. G. Nelson was our adviser. 1949-1950 Finally we were Seniors, and in the front of the middle section of the auditorium. It wouldn ' t be long until we would be saying good-bye to Madison. Some of our classmates, Verl, Carol, Orveal, Clyda and Joyce were married and it wouldn ' t be long after graduation until quite a few more would be exchanging vows. It was easy to understand that Madison couldn ' t be run without us. Lester, Yuriko, Connie, Carol, Jerry and Maureen were student body officers. Most of our members were in the clubs, on staffs or on the athletic teams. Our class officers were Mary Ann Bunnell, Robert Taylor, Frank Thompson, John Allen, Loujean Smith, Merlin Keele, Gloria Hinckley, Marlene Terry, Delia Buckand and Janice Lewis. Mr. Alma E. Teuscher was our adviser.
