SENIOR CLASS HISTORY AUGUST 28, 1942 Dear Diary: So this is Madison. Here we are a gang of meek little Freshmen, the class of ' 46. We ' ve waited a long time for this and now it ' s up to us to show everyone around here that we have arrived and I don ' t mean maybe. MAY, 1943 Dear Diary: Well, the year is over, and believe me I ' ve just been too busy to write. We really have done ourselves proud. We have proved to those active Sophomores, witty Juniors, and towering Seniors that we are mighty men by winning the class series in basketball and also M Day. Earl Wheelwright made a letter in football. MAY, 1944 Dear Diary: We now look upon ourselves as the most active class in school. Our Sophomore Frolic was the most successful dance of the year. Again we impressed the other classes with our power and activity by winning the class series in basketball and M Day. Three of our classmates, Arlo Trost, Beth Ricks, and Quinton Harris, were in the school play. Val Middleton was elected as a student body officer for next year. Four made the Thespian Club. MAY, 1945 Dear Diary: As we begin to realize the importance of our school careers, we achieved even more recognition by winning the class series in basketball and making our Junior Prom a really successful dance. Jessie Claire Morrell, Quinton Harris, Nadine Shirley, Glenna Archibald, Steve Brunson, and Shirley Jacobsen portrayed parts in the school play. Lenore Hansen, Earl Wheelwright, and Quinton Harris were on the debate team which won the district contest and rated third place in the state. Blane Hendricks won first place in the district and state F.F.A. oration. SEPTEMBER, 1946 Dear Diary: The school year 1945-46 was very full for the Senior Class. We studied very hard so that we would not have to finish our work next year. Nearly all the student body officers are Seniors. Seniors fill the M News Staff and Madisonian Staff. A Senior heads the Stag Club, the Co-ed Club, and the K.K.K. Club, the Quill and Scroll Club, and the Pepper Club. Many Senior boys are on the football and basketball teams. Yes, the Class of ' 46 is and has been a very active class at Madison High School. Quinton Harris was chosen as one of the all-star players in the district tournament.
