PAGE 8 Our Superintendent Because of the conditions of the world in which we find ourselves at the present time, the students of Madison High School are taking their jobs more seriously than they have done heretofore. This year has been characterized by a spirit of work, and cooper- ation. As the students go out for their vacations or as they enter new fields because of graduation from this institution, there is a spirit of uncertainty as to what lies ahead. Thoughtf ulness and careful planning will be required of each one. Every moment must be made to covmt in order that proper preparation may be made to serve at home or away, as needs may dictate. W e are sure that we may count on each student to do his or her full share and to act with the greatest possible wisdom and efficiency. At the close of a very successful school year I express appreciation for each of you. 1 wish you the success and the happiness which comes through growth and achievement. To the freshmen, sophomores and juniors, I express best wishes for a happy, profitable vacation and hope that all may return at the beginning of 1942-43. To the largest graduating class which Madison has ever had, I express appreciation for achievement and hopes for continued success. Sincerely yours, E. S. Stucki PAGE 9 Mr. S. G. The students who make-up, write-up, and print this paper work for your enjoyment. Special mention should be given to the advertising managers, Phyllis Allgood and Rebecca Watson, who have .sold over and above the amount of space necessary for the paper to be self supporting. Bob Young, business manager, should be commended for his fine work in that particular department. Vern Liljenquist, editor, has been one of the best, from the standpoint that he always gave you a good paper when you wanted one most. VERN LILJENQUIST Editor He carries his worries in his back pocket. Handbook Douglas Kerr, editor, has been one of the very few persons who has finished the Handbook in time for registration. His staff: Paul Stowell and Donna Matsuura, should be men- tioned for their important work in publishing the most widely used and the most help- fvil guide to Madison ' s many traditions and features. k4  _ DOUGLAS KERR Editor ' A good Year Book for 1942-43. These four, together with Zona Nelson and Ruth Smith, rep resented Madison at Ogden where David Beal and Beverly Walz were runner-up team in the Men ' s A division. I Bob Poole and Douglas Kerr, the negative team, seemed to fa get more enjoyment out of arguing between themselves. More power to the ones left to carry on next year! Facial expressions of Madison ' s debaters, caught in action and off guard, are characteristic of all who indulge seriously in forensic events. One of the most active clubs in school. Although a non-social club this group fosters and develops talents and abilities in a social way. For the first time, Troup No. 10 met with Troup No. 480 of Idaho Falls at a dinner program and dance, which is to become an annual affair. Everyone in school looks forward to the annual Thespian Assembly as one of the best of the year. Likewise, the annual Novelty Night, sponsored bv the actors and actresses, is an occasion that no one wants to miss.
