AiiCfOuuled laJenls Mu ism High Sckool Foreword WE HAVE made this Madisonian in honor of those who have helped make Madison the grand school it is: the students, faculty, par- ents, school board and janitor. Each and all have contributed whole- heartedly to the cause with money, labor, time, initiative, and activi- ty. In years to come, when you take up this book and look through the pages, if you re-live your happy, memorable days at Madison, then we have accomplished our purpose. Dedication j|T MADISON High School you will find over 600 energetic, am- bitious and healthy young people. To these students who have put Madison on the map by their co-operation and activity, we ded- icate this Madisonian as a standing record of their achievements and glory. We hope it may be a joy to them in the years to come. Left to right, sitting: T. W. Smith, S. J. Skelton, chairman, J, E. Graham. Standing: Arnold Williams, E. S. Stucki, clerk, W. E. John- son, J. S. Webster. School Board Real leadership in the operation of the Madison high school is pro- vided by our board of trustees. These men have the welfare of our school and students at heart and are always willing to do more than their part. Super in ten den t Mr. Stucki is essentially a friend of the students. His broad understanding of youth and its problems and his zeal for the welfare of the school has brought our school to the front ranks of the high schools of the state. He is loved and respected by all for his fine philosophy of life. K. W. Devenport Commercial Dept. They have accomplished much during the past four years. From a group of good, bad, and indifferent freshmen there has de- veloped an intelligent, appreciative and friendly group of Seniors. They have lived up to the traditions of the school in doing their utmost to achieve for themselves and the school. They have taken part in all school activities and been leaders in many of them. The Senior Ball was a very successful affair. They will leave to the school a project as a remembrance for pleasant days at Madison. BARBARA ALLRED Ag. Queen ' 36 J. D. V. In all school activities — debates, dramatics, publications, athletics — the Jun- iors have participated. As a class, they enjoyed two dancing parties, but the highlight of the year was the Junior Prom. The Juniors, with the co-operation of the Seniors, sponored a full day of activity culmin- ating in a successful dancing party. The decorations, centering around the Northern Lights were some of the most beautiful ever planned for such a formal occasion. Ray Cushman served as President until he moved to Ogden. The members of the class can hardly think that the one hundred seventy frightened freshmen have become so changed. They have had a happy, successful year by making them- selves an integral part of the school. They have co-operated in all sichool activities and hope to be as successful in their junior year as they have been as sophomores. Activities Nothing is good enough if there is anything better MADISONmN Pictured at right you see the Madison- ian Staff in a hectic moment durinpr a particularly busy meeting. Lyle Chris- tensen, editor, may be seen standing on the right as he is arguing in favor of a 200 page yearbook. Lawrence Free, associate editor, is just rising so that he may speak his little piece. Do you see that girl hiding behind the desk? That is Lucile Gibson. Don ' t you dare ask what business she might have there. Just the same, it looks bad. The well groomed man vA the desk at the front of the room is none other than Mr. S. G. Nelson, faculty adviser. Cecil Cook, Gwendolyn Swenson, and Cleo Jones are in a huddle trying to decide how many words should appear on page 32. Don Carlson and Marie Matsu- ura are trying to convince the rest that all the pictures in the book should be drawings instead of photographs. Billie Dean and Douglas Kerr are just coming in the door. They usually man- age to get there before the meeting is out. Clinton Keith is standing in front, trying to get a picture of the photographer. Glancing at the bottom of the page, we see the famous Madison- ian Staff in a characteristic pose. Surely they are organized to be of service to Madison. As the school year comes to a close, we bid farewell to our many friends. We shall always remember them for their loyal friendship. As a student, I wish to ex- press my appreciation to my friends and especially to those of them who have helped with this yearbook. The staff responded well to the assignments given them. Mr. Nelson gave us invaluable aid as supervisor. The faculty has co-operated well. Many students, whose names we do not have space to mention, helped greatly with the selling of ads. The advertisers should also be thanked for their part in making this book. And last, but not least, I should like to thank the student body for co-operating in getting their pictures taken. I shall always remember the joy I have received from working with these people. . . . The Editor.
