The class of '52 went down in history as one of the largest Freshmen classes to enroll in Madison High School prior t 0 that date. The new life at Madison High wa s considerably different from grammar school, with the changing of classes, but the newcomers soonlearned to adopt the new ways and enter into the activities. Our home- room teachers were Mrs.Harold Robertson, Mr. Raymond Cure, and Mr.Charles Fleming. Offi- cers e lec ted during our Freshmen year were Mabel Neal,Presidentg Vaughn Williams, Vice- Presidentg Gay Bullins, Secretary-Treasurer, andD oris Wright, Reporter. Maguita Vaughn was elected homecoming candidate for our class. Barbara Fagge and Mabel Neal were attendants in the May Court. Summer vacation was over too soon and the class of '56 entered Madison High as Sophomores. Officers elected our Sophomore year were Dick Anderson, President, Becky Sharp, Vice- Presidentg Pat C ox, Sec retaryg and Gaye Burton, Treasurer. Gay Bullins, our Homecom- ing Candidate, came in second place. Other exciting events during our Sophomore year were the Sophomore-Senior Weiner Roast and the honor of carrying the Daisy Chain for the Seniors. A number of students were missing from our class and we were divided into only two homerooms with Mrs . Roberts on and Mr. Fleming as our homeroom teachers. We all looked forward to summer vacation again, but were even more excited upon returning to Madison High School as Juniors and the excit- ing schedule of activities that lay ahead for us. Miss Julia Brown and Miss Maude Webster were our sponsors. Officers elected during the Jun- ior year were: Darwin Pa r r i s h , Presidentg Barbara Fagge, Vice-President, Jean Hill, Sec- retaryg Becky Mashburn, Treasurer, and Dee Shelton, Reporter. De e Shelton, our candidate, was elected Homecoming Queen of 1954 at Mad- ison HighSchool. Dee was also elected Maid-of- Honor for the May C ourt . Sandy McHone and Barbara Fagge represented the Junior class in the May Court. The most significant event of our Junior year wa s giving a prom for the Seniors, which broke the tradition of the annual banquet. Magazines were sold to make money. The prom was given in the J. C. Lassiter Cafeteria with a replica of a Japanese Garden as the theme, Our Class rings were ordered in January, The honor History of marshals was bestowed upon Pat Cox, Chief, Kaye Burton, Becky Mashburn, Emily Lawson, Dee Shelton, Gaye Burton and Barbara Fagge, Thus three year s had been completed at Madison High School for the class of '56, ln the fall of '55 a group of 54 students once again and for the last time entered Madison High School as Seniors. Our Senior Sponsors were: Miss Ruth McKellar and Miss Maude Webster. Class Of- ficers elected were: Dick Anderson, President, Gaye Burton , Vice-President, Yvonne Joyce, Secretary, Mary Frances Shelton, Treasurer, and Frankie Wall, Reporter.
