In the hrst grid-iron-clash of the season Mills Home rolled to a 21-14 victory in a game that was rained out on the regular scheduled night, Friday, and had to be played on Monday. The next six games were all Madisons' as they racked up 167 points to their opponents 24. They hrst clashed with Guilford and won 27-0. This being the first time Madison has beaten Guilford in six years. Then came Rankin, a class AA school, in which was a close game the first half, but ended up in a 30-0 romping. The following weeks Madison defeated Trinity 34-6, Mayodan 35-0, Draper 13-6, and Walunt Cove 28-12 in that order. Then, lacking power through the middle of the line Madison lost to Jamestown, also a AA school, by a 12-7 score. In the last clash of the season, Madi- son encountered a heavy Stoneville eleven and came out with its seventh win, so they won 28412. The final record was seven triumphs to only 2 defeats. After we had won Eve games while dropping only one, Jo Clark and Carlton Rierson were reported to Coach Cure as ineligible due to their ages. It was no fault of jo's or Carltons, and Certainly none of Mr. Cures. It was just one of those things that can happen to either good or bad teams. We have to give credit to jo and Carlton as two of the best linemen Madison High has ever seent and are all very sorry for their being declared ineligible, not only because of football but also because of baseball and basketball. jo starred in both, while Carlton was a swell pitcher on the baseball squad. It is everyone-'S regret that five games were forfeited but, in all the boys hearts they know that they won the games fair and square. We feel that the other teams feel the same.
