THE CLASS OF HOMECOMING QUEENS MISS JEAN SNEAD 1948 Homecoming Queen Ever since the innovation o f t h e Homecoming Queen Contest three years ago in 1948, the Class of '51 has had its candidate named as the Queen. In 1948, Jean Snead was crowned Queen to rule over the Homecoming football game, and in 1949 and 1950, Jo Ann Collins ruled over the colorful event. As the pho- tos on these pages reveal, one can readily understand why the class of '51 will long be remembered as the Class of Homecoming Queens. Our most sincere congratulations go to these two lovely girls. Their beauty, poise, grace and personalities will surely prove to be quite an inspira- tion to lucky Winners of years to come. l17l

Class Poem Slowly the minutes are ticking away: The time of our lives is fleeting. We're stepping into another dayg A new horizon we're greeting. The minutes, the hours, the days, and the years Have all too swiftly flown, And mingled with laughter are traces of tears As we realize these moments are gone. We fought each battle and conquered each fearg We shared all our joy and sorrow. United we stood from year unto yearg United we'1l face the tomorrow. Undaunted we'll move toward a shining light- The light which makes success. Unerring we'll walk in the paths of rightg To the world we'll offer our best. And now we don the cap and gowng Our sheepskins we receiveg And now we lay our studies down, And sadly we take our leave. But the Class of '51 never can sever Our hearts from the school where you find us, For the sands of time will hold forever The footprints we leave behind us.
