It took part in the con- cert for the benefit of the Salvation Army in October, and also played a most im- portant part in the Christmas Pageant held in December. At the Southeastern Michigan Music Festival held in Mt. Clemens in March, this organization was given a superior rating. The Orchestra assisted with the concerts given for the purpose of furthering interest in good music, has played before school assemblies on differ- ent occasions, and has furnished music for numerous school functions.

In October a demonstration of A Cappella Choir singing was given in Lansing for the benefit of the music division of the third district of the Michigan Education Association. A very beautiful and most impressive Christmas Pageant was presented on the stage of the Croswell Theatre in December by the combined music and speech de- partments for the purpose of raising money for the Associated Charities. It com- bined the sacred significance of Christmas with the jollification of the season in a most gratifying manner and met with a Fine response from the citizens of Adrian and outlying towns. Numerous special groups of senior voices have been organized this year, and have been called upon many times to sing in Adrian and throughout the county. Two boys' quartets were formed, composed of flj, Jarvis Wotring, John Mac- Naughton, Paul Cairns, and Evert Hylanderg QZJ, Don Brown, Harlow Anderson, Eugene LaSalle, and Roger Anderson. There have been two double-mixed quar- tets. The boys composing the first quartet, together with Agnes Goodwin, Jane Brydon, Jean Westerman and Louise Schaffer made up the first one, while the boys of the second quartet were placed with Jeanne Mcphail, Irene Daley, Jane Allen and Dorothy Marr to form the second. A girls' septet, consisting of Mabel Hay- ford, Inez Alexander, Elizabeth Baker, Donna Miley, Lois Albig, Lenore Bangerter, and Hazel Faler has furnished music on several occasions. A girls' trio composed of Agnes Goodwin, Jean Westerman, and Louise Schaffer also has been quite active. All of these organizations excepting the girls, septet participated in the North Cen- tral Music Supervisors' Conference held in Indianapolis in March, and prior to this, concerts were given by the A Cappella Choir and by the groups themselves, for the purpose of raising money for the trip. The groups received unusually high ratings in this contest and also made some very fine contacts. All in all, this has been a very pleasant and profitable year for the vocal department.
