This publication has served both as a record of high school activities and as a means of fostering school spirit by its timely wit and wisdom. This group is composed of the freshmen, juniors and seniors interested in journalism. A journalism class was organized at the beginning of the second semester. The class met twice a week and was composed of members of the Maple Leaf Staff, to- gether with a few additional students who were particularly interested in the subject. Besides preparing the articles for The Maple Leaf some insight into journalism has been gained.

The Faculty selected the Editor-in-Chief, the Assistant Editor, and the Business Manager, these three in turn appointing the members of the staff. Each one is responsible for writing the account of some particular phase of school activities. The price of the Sickle is relatively small in comparison with the value which it is bound to have in later years. This Sickle provides a record of the princi- pal accomplishments and outstanding events of our Senior High School Career. As we all know this has been an unusual year and the class has been faced by many handicaps. In publishing the Sickle every effort has been made to keep within the limits of our budget. It is with pride that the class of 1935 presents this volume to you. First Row fleft to right!! Agnes Goodwin, Myrtle Weisz, Mary Lake, Alvin Wiebeck, Elwin Alder. Second ROW. The president of each class is included in this group. Mr. Adams is the faculty adviser. The purpose of the council is to pro- mote student government in Adrian Senior High School. Ar the first meeting these officers were elected: Virginia Kuster, president, Leland Humphrey, vice- president, Margaret Anderson, secretary. During the year the council has decided on various important questions such as prices of football and basketball tickets, purchase of a radio for the study hall, dates of class parties, programs for general assemblies, and appointments of committees to investigate student projects and affairs. Last fall, Robert Bartholomew, Vincent Comstock, and Leland Humphrey at- tended the Youth Congress, which was called to discuss the importance of Young Americans in the affairs of the nation, future wars in America being the main topic. This spring the council sent Margaret Anderson, Ruth Mowat, Leland Humph- rey, and Virginia Kuster, to Detroit to visit Southeastern High School and Cooley High School. They brought back several splendid ideas to be carried out next year for forwarding keener interest in student affairs. During the year the council demonstrated in a general assembly how a meet- ing is carried on. All the members contributed to the discussion which concerned the sale and purchase of the tickets for the Christmas Pageant, The Yulelightf, The council feels that they have been very successful in the first year of their existence and they believe that in the future the organization will justly claim more prestige in school affairs.
