To the Clary of 1935: Another year has rolled around and another com- mencement is at hand. To some it is just the finish of another year of school work, but to you who are graduating, it is much more than that. It means the end of your high school life and the beginning of a new existence, far different from anything that you have experienced before. How you will fare in this new world, will depend entirely upon what prepara- tion you have made for it. Never again will you be high school boys and girls. Never again will you have the opportunities that you have already had, but you will have new ones presented to you. Be Prepareda' to take advantage of the opportunities as they come. Keep alert to a changing order, and show the world that you have a purpose in life from which you are not to be deterred. My best wishes go with each of you. ERNEST REED, Superintendent of Schools E. REED Superintendent J. H. ADAMS Principal Seniors of 1935: For three years you have been under my personal direction as principal of your high school. I feel, therefore, a certain responsibility for your future success or failure. In a sense, if you succeed in your chosen work, I have succeeded, while if you fail I have failed. Of course, many factors enter into your accomplish- ment, such as home, parents, church, friends, teachers, and most of all, you. Still, I have had the opportunity to in- fluence you during your most formative years, during years of change from child- hood to adulthood. So I feel that in the big book I have been charged with much responsibility for you. Now, pupils, may I offer you a creed for living? Here it is: Be honest with yourselves and others, work for your re- wards, practice temperance in all things but fanaticism is noneg seek to encourage tolerance among men, cultivate kindli- ness, charity, and courage, recognize your responsibility to community, state and nation by active participation in citi- zenship, and hold to democracy as the best social order which the mind of man has yet devised l Your friend, HARRY ADAMS
