Hyatt and Darleen Kent? Well for xt was Herbert seemed to be enjoying thxs l1fe I gathered that he made regular trlps through the jungles showmg tourxsts all the slghts He recelved a hxgh salary for doxng th1s Perhaps that s why he enjoyed It so much I saw that Darleen had a notebook and a pencxl and learned that she acted as secretary taklng notes durmg the trlps Just as the safarm was ready to start the scene changed Next I found myself back ln Mrssourz where I saw a cute lmttle cottage surrounded by flowers The scene looked so quxet and peaceful but what a change mslde Through a bed room window I could see two httle boys nghtmg they weren t just playxng elther Above the dm I could hear thexr mother shoutmg for them to stop or nexther of them would be able to sxt down for a week In the next room two lxttle glrls were quarrelmg over a doll The argu ment grew quxte heated and one httle glrl called Aunt Joyce Joyce? Was that lady Joyce Mallory? Of course I should have recogmzed her as she hadn t changed m sp1te of five chlldren of her own and s1x of her s1ster s The nolse ended abruptly as the scene changed agam Thxs tlme I was lookmg dlrectly at the stage of a Broadway opera house The curtam was just gomg up A girl who stood alone on the stage was dressed an a heavy velvet gown wxth dxamonds which flashed at every move She began to smg some kmd of thmg which probably wouldn t have made sense even xf I could have understood the words I had never been 1n terested In opera but thxs txme I was mterested but 1n the g1r1 She looked fam1l1ar I began searchlng back ln my memory for a gxrl wxth the long brown ha1r and the features of thxs g1rl before me The name Carolyn kept comxng to me Carolyn Carolyn H111 that s It Carolyn seemed to be makmg qu1te a name for herself In the muslc world I learned she had studxed abroad for s1x years A lady sxttmg beslde me sa1d she had heard Mxss H111 smg ln London and that had been the thr1ll of her l1fe I had to agree that my former schoolmate was a good performer mdeed Before her ar1a was fmxshed the scene changed agam Thzs pxcture was taken 1ns1de a cannery of some sort Oh yes the name was above the door R .T Stump Pea Cannery In one corner of a fxfth floor room I could see one gxrl s1tt1ng apart from the others She seemed to be thoroughly engrossed 1n her work I knew right away that this glrl was ohzrley Llppstock one of my former schoolmates Then Ihap pened to notlce a s1gn on Sh1rley s desk It read Sh1rley L1ppstock Off1c1a1 Pea Counter for the R .T Stump Pea Cannery It seemed that Mr Stump l1ked to say h1s peas were hand pxcked Thus Shxrley had to count one by one he number of peas xn each can Just as she placed the mne hundred nmety nmth pea 1n a can the plcture faded out and another appeared Thxs picture took me to the door of a lovely mansxon located on the outskxrts of St Loums I peered through the hall 1nto a spacious llvmg room I could see a woman slttmg on a lux urxous sofa wlth a Sxamese cat quletly readlng This woman was none other than Beulah LaForce whom I had known back xn old Madxson Hlgh I learned that Beulah had married a wealthy owner of a chaxn of hotels They had three chxldren but at that txme they were bemg tutored by a prxvate teacher At that moment the plcture changed and I d1dn t get to see thexr chrldren The next scene took me to a huge travel agency 1n Chlcago A courteous lady seated be h1nd a desk was tracing travel routes on a map Thls lady was none other than Carol Ann Peterson whom I had gone to school wlth back m Madlson I learned that Carol was now head of the travel agency and was helplng would be travelers flnd the most suxtable routes for them to take She was maklng the plans sound so good that she was thxnkmg about quxttmg and taklng a vacatlon to one of the places she was advertxslng W1th that the curtain closed on the lxves of my schoolmates of 1954 As Iarose from my seat I resolved to look up as many of the Senxors as possible durlng the next year Clase Wlll and Testament We the Semor Class of 1954 do make publxsh and declare thxs IS our last w1ll and testa ment To the faculty we bequeath apprecxatxon for a task well done Q Q Q Q Q Q - Q Q Q Q Q Q , Q Q Q Q Q Q g - - Q Q Q Q 1 Q Q Q , Q Q Q Q Q l Q Q Q Q ' , Q Q Q V Q I Q Q Q , P I , , Q Q Y Q Q Q Q Q 0 ' I U I Cl 7' a 0 ' Q Q Q Q Q ' 9 Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q - Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q ' 1 Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q I 1 , sl no ' 1 - Q Q Q Q Q Q ' Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q 1 Q ' Q Q Q Q l .Q Q Q Q Q Q - 'V ' ' Q Q Q Q Q Q Q ' o 1 t Q Q Q Q Q Q I Q Q Q Q Q Q ' Q Q Q Q Q Q ' Q Q , , - Q Q Q Q Q Q ' Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q D l Q Q Q Q Q Q Q . - Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q I Q O 1 Q ' Q Q Q Q 1 Q Q - Q -1 ' ' '
