Dear Diary Whxle shoppmg m my old home town today I met a former schoolmate of mme from back m the class of 49 She has just opened a style shop on East Madlson Avenue This proprretor was none other than Betty Overfelt Her assistant Miss juamta Pollard, IS top model specxallzmg In frtted gowns wxth reptile accessories Juamta nn her spare tmme mstructs students from all over the state ln the famous dance known as the Snake Crawl While chatting with her I learned the whereabouts of some of her former classmates She told me that Mary Jennings now Mrs jake Overfeltl was an mstructor rn home economxcs and physical educatxon at our old Alma Mater I also learned that Helen Robertson was employed m the commerce department of the h1gh school When the school year ends Helen is planning on that long delayed june wedding The groom IS to be Ed Swartz Glancmg at my watch I reallzed that I was late for my appomtment at the beauty salon I gathered up my parcels and rushed out 1nto the street Zoom Who on earth? Why that was Char es Campbell drwmg a truck for Standard O11 And who should be rlght behind htm but Patrolman Clyde Ragsdale Careful, Charlre or Clyde wlll get you After reachmg the beauty salon Mrs Gunn fBetty Cupp rushed me into a cha1r and began to work We were soon deeply engrossed xn con versatron concernmg our old frrends She told me of the openmg of the new john Deere plant tn town, and of those employed It seems that Roger Smdow IS the produchon manager of the flrm she holds a strategic pos1t1on Another new bulldmg rn town IS the Samaritan Hospxtal Curtts McMorr1s IS the staff surgeon and IS very mmportant Mlss Mary Humphrey IS head nurse and I hear she is very capable and efftcment I found out that Dorls Thomas and Marme Rawlxngs were followmg thelr husbands around the umverse one bemg a contractor for a large construc tion company, and the other a member of Uncle Sam s Navy Whrle under the dryer I picked up the Mormng Herald and read of the famous softball player Wreatha Newbrough playlng ln a Natxonal Women s Tourney I ll bet she IS a whrz with that left handed pitch Now who do you suppose the edrtor of thrs state wlde cmrculated paper 159 V1rg1n1a Forsyth IS your best guess Oh ho What s th1s'P Bertha Wh1te has taken over Thleman s Flower Shop In Moberly She and her younger slster w1ll manage It After puttmg away the paper I glanced across the street and notxced a famxllar flgure Now who else but Barbara Noel IS so t1ny'?
