Class History In the fall of '42 we, an unusual crop of green freshies, entered that intellectual institu- tion known as Madison High School. For four fleeting eventful years, we have endeavored to prove to the faculty that we, too, deserve il place in the world. AS FROSH. We, in proving that we were not too green, elected Bunky Curtis, Charles Vaughn, and Stanley Vawter to fill our class offices. Our Student Council representatives were Martha Green and Morris Lockridge. Our activities were varied. In addition to the regular band members, Pat Long and Bunky Curtis were drum. majorettes. Buddy Scott and Charles Grooms played on the varsity team in several games. The boys of our class further proved our athletic ability by winning the soft- ball tournament. In the school play, Andy Has tba' Answer, Bill Goebel displayed our dra- matic ability. AS SOPHS. We returned to M. H. S. a bit more confi- dent. Having advanced from lowly position of freshmen to the height of sophomores, we be- gan the year by electing Kenneth Guthrie, Tommy McLaughlin, and Elizabeth Curtis to guide us through the year. On the Student Council to represent us were Martha Green, Martha Lee, Johnny Campbell, Bob Miller, and Rose Marie Wesbecker. For one night at least if a girl were dateless, it was her own fault. We gave every girl in M. H. S. her chance at our Leap Year Dance. Both Kenneth Guthrie and Becky King had parts in the school play, Thr Home Front. As in our previous year, We won the Inter- class Tournament. We were also Interclass Basketball Champs AS JUNIORS. We entered into one of our busiest years by electing very capable class officers. President .......... John Campbell. Vice President .Tommy McLaughlin. Secretary .......,..... Jerry Lewis Treasurer .,,........ Elaine Horton For the Student Council we chose Martha Lee, Buddy Scott, Edith Jenkins, and Jimmy Nichols. The student body elected a member of our class, Johnny Campbell, as President of the Student Council. In the school play, Happy Landings, the talent of our class was displayed by Margaret Johnson, Carolyn Cofield, Jo-hn Moore, John Richert, and Martha Lee. Aside from the three members on the vir- sity team our class again went into the lime- light in sports. Again we won the interclass basketball tourney. Our Prom was centered around the theme of a Mexican Fiesta. ' AS SENIORS. We, achieving at last the honor of being dignihed, chose for our class ofhcers: President ...... Tommy McLaughlin Vice President ,..... james Nichols Secretary ..,, . . . Elaine Horton Treasurer .....,., ...,. B ob Smith Our Student Council representatives were: Mary Helen Klein, Martha Lee, Virginia Ahl- mark, Becky King, john Scott, and John Moore. We again had the honor of having a member of our class as president of the Student Council, jimmy Nichols, who held this office, was the first senior to be elected to it in several years. The editorship of the Madisonian was taken over this year by Margaret Johnson. During the year our class has been well re- presented in all the activities. Many of us were oflicers in the various school organizations. John Scott, president of the Hi-Yg Elain Horton, president of S. S. S., Becky King, president of the Choral Club, and Robert Smith, president of the Science Club. The other three officers of the Science Club were also seniors. Charles Gionet was vice president, Margaret Johnson, treasurer, and John Scott, secretary. We busied ourselves further by choosing our caps and gowns, announcements, class colors, editing the Mahisco, presenting the Custer Con- test, Senior Play, and Class Day, and other pre- parations for graduation. As our high school career draws to a close, we look to the future, to the world of peace, and a happy and successful life for everyone of us.
