Dear Seniors: An old proverb speaks of the father eating sour grapes and the children’s teeth being set on edge. The rallying cry of your generation echos this ancient saying and my generation is being tried by it. and rightly so, for it ever remains the duty of each new generation to challenge the old in an attempt to find itself and values that the times cannot change. My brief association with you has convinced me that you will be a very involved group in years to come. This is the spirit of the true American. This is the spirit you need for you will find yourselves being tried by the very standards you propose today. My thanks go out to you for a rewarding and challenging year.
