The Madison High School Band Consist of Select students from all grades of the school. Not only does the band participate in the half-time of all home games but, they also traveled to most of the away games. Our band participated in the FSU Homecoming Parade, North Florida Fair Parade, and in the Florida forrest Festival Parade. In late November the band participated in District Marching Contest receiving the rating of excellent, the highest grade for class CC bands. Following the marching season the band turns to concert music preparing for a winter Concert, several informal concerts, District Concert, and a formal Spring Concert. 29

JUNIOR BETA STANDING: President, Susan Walker; Vice-president, Carol Knox; Secretary, Cissy Scruggs; Treasurer, Susan Smith. The National Junior Beta Club is a non-secret, leadership, achievement, and service organization for junior high students. It was organizaed in Madison in 1963 with eleven charter members. Its purpose is to promote high ideals among stu- dents. A member of the Junior Beta Club is expected to have a commendable character. He should have made a creditable achievement of a 3.5 average, maintain a B average, and have honorable attitudes. If these students maintain the re- quirements of the Junior Beta Club, they are asked to join the Senior Beta Club. The club has had two projects this past year. One was to sell Devil pennants throughout the school. The money made went into the other project, repairing worn library books. 30
