LOUISE BROWNING Editor. MARY KAY BURNETTE On behalf of the Annual Staff of the 1961 Mahisco, I'd like to thank you, the fac ulty and student body, for your cooperation in making this book possible. Especially, we'd like to thank Mrs. Browning, our sponsor, for her tireless effort. Without her help we would not have been able to present you with this book, which we hope you will en- joy for many years to come. Mary Kay Burnette, Editor Hard At Work Our Working Teams 5 The administration is the most important part of our school. Without these people we would accomplish little. They are our teachers, sponsors, and friends. We thank you for your help and guid- ance through the years. 7 MR. GRIFFIN BISHOP Superintendent of Public Instruction Madison, Florida March 1, 1961 Madison High School Senior Class of 1961 Dear Seniors: My congratulations to each member of the Senior Class upon completion of the prescribed course of study at Madison High School. You now possess the basic educa- tional background on which you will build your life's work. I am proud of your ac- complishment at this point in your life as are your parents and friends. Let me remind you that many people have made a contribution and I am sure some sacrifices in order that you might attain this goal. Show your appreciation to your parents, teachers, and friends by giving your best to the future tasks that lie ahead. Your future accomplishments will be determined almost entirely by your own efforts, and I have every faith that you can and will attain your goal in life. As you travel life's journey I suggest that you always maintain a strong faith in yourself, your fellowman, and your God. Sincerely, Griffin Bishop Superintendent 8 MR. BURCH CORNELIUS Supervising Principal Madison, Florida February 28, 1961 Dear Seniors: May I offer you congratulations upon your greatest accomplishment to date - the graduation from high school. This is not an accomplishment in that you have reached a goal or acquired success. But it is an accomplishment because you have now laid the foundation, constructed the framework, upon which you can in future years build your life. Your degree of success will depend on your ability, based on this foundation, to amke the right decisions and choices in the opportunities that you encounter, and your determination, based on this framework, to apply your efforts completely to the con- struction of an edifice of which you will be proud. Best wishes for your future years, and I hope that the days spent at Madison High School have furnished the groundwork for a long and successful life. Sincerely, 9 faculty MRS. BEGGS MEN’S DEPARTMENT STORE See the Beggs Boys--------They've Got Everything Madison, Florida Lunchroom Staff Cook Helpers Mrs. Smith Lunchroom Supervisor Four years ago we entered the fun-filled security of the ninth grade; we lived in a world overflowing with sweet sixteen parties and football games. We've followed the fads: leotards, bongo drums, record collecting, short skirts, ivy league, and going steady. We've shared the thrill of Class Rings and the fatigue and joy of putting on our very own prom. All these exper- iences have made us a little wiser; we've learned--the hard way. In our anticipation of the future, we think of our joyful past and begin to regret having to leave the security of old friend- ships and families. We can only hope that our underclassmen will fill their years with the wis- dom that we lacked. We. the MODERN YOUTH of today, leave to continue our preparation for the responsibilities that will lie on our shoulders as the ADULTS OF TOMORROW. 126 autographs autographs TAYLOR PUBLISHING COMPANY ; - v ycAv;• jVWt' r t-V 7T 5 . ■. .
