Thomasina Morrison LAYOUT EDITOR Stajjjj' Tfle aqe You are typical teens, making fun out of work and sharing interests. You like jeans but change when it fits the occasion. Yes, you're typical youth. You go steady for about 2 months. You dress up: Heels for her; tie for him. You know how to drive, rely on the family car and get it, say twice a week if you are lucky. Typical High School students, you go out for sports 100%. You work on Sat- urdays babysitting, in stores, or garages. Your daily schedule is a familiar pattern of high school life: You are up at 6:30, maybe 7:00 or even later; sometimes oversleeping; going to classes at breakneck speed; snacking on cokes and munching candy bars. You do housework while listening to your radio requests. You enjoy school but hate to admit it. You study some-three hours a night, well, no, a week. You average A , well, any- way you make the grade, just, but you are satisfied because you are a teenager. And so, here is your book, Mahisco '57 which brings out our school spirit in classrooms, athletics, music, and all our activities. Wherever you may go, whatever you may do, you will always find it and remember the Spirit of '57. We of the annual staff hope you enjoy our interpretation of school life in good ole' M.H.S. Dedicated Jo YYlibb Alice Simo. For her kindness and understanding, for her gentle humor, for her quiet and unpretentious performance of her duties to parents, teachers, and students, we the class of 1957 dedicate the Mahisco to Miss Alice Sims. Our sincere best wishes are extended to Miss Sims in all her future endeavors. On November 20, 1956, the Madison County Classroom Teachers' Association honored Miss Sims in recognition of her 25 years service to the Schools of Madison County. MRS. WALTER BISHOP Supervising Principal Dear Seniors: Another milestone will be reached by each of you in a short time, and as you reach it, I join the many who offer their sincere congratulations upon your accomplishment. It is something that you can justly be proud of because it does represent the attainment of a goal, and even though new and higher goals will be sought, it is proper that at this time that you should experience a feeling of pride in your attainment. For some of you, graduation will mark the end of your formal education; for others, graduation will mean going away for further training. Regardless of what your imme- diate plans for the future are, or what your long-range plans might be, there are two goals that I would have you set for yourselves. First, keep informed, or stated differ- ently, keep learning. This is the only way to be a truly educated person. Second, develop a keen understanding of and respect for people—their ideals, attitudes, and beliefs. In the final analysis you will find that people are the most important things in tne world, and to a large extent, your success in life will depend upon your ability to get along with and adjust to your fellow man. Best wishes are extended to you as you embark on a new phase of life's journey. My one great ambition for each of you is that as you travel this journey it will be charac- teristic of you to stand for the good, the true, the beautiful. Sincerely, Let'll hean ftnom Out YYl i. Madison High School Senior Class of 1957: My hearty congratulations and best wishes to each member of the graduating class of 1957. I am sure that each of you have laid some of the foundations that will help to serve this state and county during the next fifty years.
