Preparing for their Halloween Hop. The National Honor Society encourages character, scholar- ship, leadership, and service. The members try to create a greater desire to learn and to bring about more enthusiasm for scholastic achievement. Membership is made up of Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors maintaining a B average or higher. The 1971-72 officers are: Robert Mangoff, President; Janette Bryant, Vice-President; Rhina Greer, Secretary; and Barbara Brown, Treasurer. Mrs. Meyer is the sponsor. The Latin Club, sponsored by Mr. Mehelic, serves a very important pur- pose in our high school. It provides ac- tivities which are both educational and entertaining and which serve to increase the Latin students' appreciation of the Roman culture and its influence on Western civilization. Latin Club The Girls' Athletic Association was organized to promote co-oper- ation and sportsmanship. G.A.A. stresses the importance of health and education. The main goal of G.A.A. is to prepare girls to take their places in the community. The sponsors are Mis. Long and Miss Daggert. G.A.A. Trojan Flashes Staff The Trojan Flashes Staff, sponsored by Mr. Gardner and Mrs. Meyer, is composed of those students who are in- terested in bettering their understanding of writing and editing. They must orga- nize, originate new gimmicks and create enthusiasm among the students, besides writing the articles, and mimeographing the publications. Pep Club The Pep Club acts to support the Athletic Department at Madison Sr. High School. They raise money for Pep Club buses to go to games at other schools. They back the team with school spirit by cheering them on to victory. The Pep Club sponsor is Mrs. Robinson. The Officers are: Brenda Ervin, President; Ida Cannon, Vice-President; Greda Patton, Secre- tary; and Burnette Lewis, Treasurer. STUDENT COUNCIL The Student Council was designed to better the school. It tries to help make the school, in itself, a better institution for education. The Student Council repre- sents the entire student body, so that all opinions and views can be heard and presented to the principal and the school board. There is a rep- resentative from each of the homerooms in the Student Council. It is sponsored by Mr. Warfield and Mr. Loy.
