The Future homemakers of America is a na- tional organiza- tion of students who study home- making in junior and senior high schools through- out the country. These mem- bers work to- gether for better and happier home lives for every- one. They believe that helping to make happy homes, now and in the future, is the most im- portant goal that the youth of to- day can attain to keep our country strong and safe. Future Homemakers of America Future Nurses of America The Future Nurses of Amer- ica was formed to promote in- terest in nursing and to inform those girls in- terested in that profession of its rewards. These girls plan to enter the field of nursing after graduation. A profession which will welcome this group of re- sourceful and bright girls with open arms. The sponsor is Miss Nina Dittman, R.N. Officers for '67-'68 are: Bev- erly Mathis, President; De- lilah Dorste, Vice-President; Gail Dandridge, Secretary; and Jackie Wright, Treasurer. The Student Coun- cil is composed of four elected officers from each class. They are elected by their respec- tive classes in the fall, and are the governing body of the school. Their job is to repre- sent their classes in council meetings, pass laws and plan school activities. Each year they select the assem- blies that will be pre- sented to the student body the following year and help with the organization of Career Day. The officers of the Student Council for '67- 68 are from left to right: James Nappier, Secretary; Frank Frank- lin, Treasurer; Mr. Burniski, Adviser; Leslie Hulsey, Vice President; and Charles Bos worth, President. Student Council Library Club The Library Club under the direction of Miss Follmer, is com- posed of girls who have a high scholastic rank in their perspec- tive classes. (i ovet On April 30, the government class learned how the city of Madison was run. The city officials con- ducted a tour of their offices, and other governmental functions. Pictured below are the students who were chosen to be the city officials for the day. In the above picture are a group of students touring the police station. They saw the weapons used in crime fighting and the place where an actual line up is held. merit Among the places visited were: the fire station where the students were shown the latest fire fighting equipment and some of its uses; the library, the dog pound, the water pumping station, and the office of the superintendent of schools. In the evening the students sat in at a city council meeting and conducted a mock meeting afterward in which they passed appropriations, laws, and suggestions concerning city improvements. the Stars om I did it all by mythelf' Take me to your leader 86 Valley of the Dolls Now I know you from a different angle.
