(Orown Mr. Brown served as Superintendent of our schools for the past fourteen years. His life was one of devotion to the public schools; serving as high school teacher, elementary principal and superintendent of schools for a total of thirty-eight years. His accomplishments for the educational program and the building improvements made were far beyond our expectations. He worked long and hard to secure the federal program which is bringing needed aides to our students. His aspiration was to provide all students with the best possible preparation for life. He was our supporter in all activities and our number one fan in sports. It is with deep affection and gratitude that we the Senior Class of 1967 dedicate our annual toMr. Brown. Their Job is to represent their classes in council meetings, pass laws, and plan school activities. Each year they select the assemblies that will be presented to the student body the following year and help with the organization of Career Day. Besides these many tasks the Student Council this year added still another. They sponsored a basketball game between the KXOK disc Jockeys and the faculty. The game was enjoyed by everyone and brought in quite a profit. The officers of the Student Council for are from left to right: Stephen Shipcoff, Presi- dent; Steve Geroff, Vice Presi- dent; Leslie Hulsey, Secretary; Frank Franklin, Trreasurer. St u clen Co urici 5 ren c I One of the leading or- ganizations in the school is the French Club. Under the supervision of Made- moiselle Bethel, it has be- come a worth while organ- ization. It gives the stu- dents an opportunity to bet- ter their understanding of the French language, and creates a greater desire to learn, read, and speak French. oria This group of seniors, under the guidance of their sponsors and Mr. Lee Ashby, is responsible for organizing the committees and getting the work under way for your 1967 yearbook. Seated from left to right are: Linda Campbell, Business Secretary; Mr. Ashby, Year- book Advisor; and Olivia Hamilton, Business Manager. They have spent many long and tedious hours taking pic- tures, pasting pictures, originating ideas, and finally putting together your yearbook. The Madisonian staff wishes to express their thanks in appreciation to the patient sponsors who have helped to make this yearbook a success. DL D, rojan Staff The school paper, the Trojan, is published by a group of hardworking stu- dents. Throughout the year the members of the Trojan Staff write and publish five regular editions of the paper and one special senior issue. The Trojan serves to inform the stu- dent body of coming events, sports events and general news concerning the school. Anyone wishing to become a member of the Trojan Staff must submit an essay to Miss Waters, who spon- sors the organi zation. Membership is based on the students’ ability to write. The members of the Trojan Staff seated from left to right are: Judy Pogorelac, Editor; Miss Waters Faculty Sponsor; and Pat Pazia, Co-editor. Standing are: Leslie Hulsey, Marsha Davis, Charlie Ann Hackett, Paula Gushleff, Marie Kostecki, Donna Simmons, Terry Stawar, Janet Schwartz, Cindy Cross, and Delores Botis. Pictured below are the members of the Trojan Staff performing two of the many steps it takes to put out the paper: typing the stencils and running it off. The Library Club un- der the direction of Miss Follmer. is composed of girls who have a high scholastic rank in their perspective classes. These librarians aid the students by rendering helpful and competent library service. Library Club of- ficers for 1966 - '67 are: Charlene Voloski, Pres- ident; Mary Ann Downs, Vice President; Delores Botis, Secretary; Vicki McQuay, Treasurer. Ohe rXiL ra r The pictures below are members of the Library Club at work. One of the newest and fastest growing clubs at Madison High School is the Audio-Visual Club, under the direction of Mr. J, Naglich. The Audio Visual was created as a service club to aid in classroom teaching and help with extracurricular activities. Willing students learn how to operate and care for such equipment as movie pro- jectors, tape recorders, and the office intercom system. Mdio.Vi6uJ The Junior Red Cross has been a long standing organization under the able direction of Miss Follmer. The members chief purpose is to assist the National Red Cross by cooperating in rendering services and financial support. They also help at the hospital, making small things, to give to the children and the old. The Junior Red Cross officers for 1966- '67 are: Sharon Obranovich, President ; Pat Messer, Vice Pres- ident; Delores Botis, Sec- retary; and Geralyn Lapinski, Treasurer. ior ?« c. roAA This year the Junior Red Cross members made decorations, tray favors, and place mats for Thanksgiving and Easter which were sent to the patients of the hospital at Scott Air Force Base. With money collected throughout the year, the members took a trip to see the movie Hawaii , which was enjoyed by everyone. Membership in the Madison Chapter of the National Honor Society is composed of sophomores, juniors, and seniors main- taining a B average or higher. The members try to create a greater desire to learn and more enthusiasm for scholastic achievement, thus creating a higher standard for the school. For the first time tin National Honor Society had for their initiation, a for- mal banquet. Food was served cafeteria style. Everyone had a good time and it was a great suc- cess. Officers for the 1966- 67 Honor Society are: Susan Michels, President; Judy Pogerelac, Vice President; Greg Wasylak, Secretary; and Cindy Cross, Treasurer. flat ion a (Mo n or ‘W’ CL l. Members of the M Club must win a letter in a sport before they are eligible to join. The letter M which they wear and represent not only stands for Madison but is also a symbol of sportsmanship, challenge and fair play. Through this club these boys learn about life itself by taking the wins and losses they face. The F.N.A. was formed to promote Interest in nursing and to inform those girls interested in that pro- fession of its rewards. These girls plan to enter the field of nursing after graduation. A profession which will welcome this group of bright and resourceful girls with open arms. The sponsor is Miss Nina Dittman. One of the most active and energetic organiza- tions at M.H.S. is the Pep Club. It is one of the largest and liveliest clubs at M.H.S. We are sure that the football and basketball teams appreciate the strong support that they receive from this fine or- ganization. The officers for this year’s pep club are: Susan Mance, President; Marie Kostecki, Vice President; Pat P a z i a, Secretary; Susan Michels, Treasurer; and Mary Ann Washenko, Point Captain. The Girl's Athletic Association is established to promote interest in athletics and good sports- manship. The G.A.A. has been busy this year selling folders to buy letters. Every year the association initiates new members by making them do things, such as wearing curlers to school and collecting pen- nies. This proves to be fun not only for the initiates but for everyone else in school. This year the girls in G.A.A. are putting on a Play Day, in which they will compete against the neighboring schools.
