How they accept this challenge, with desirable at- titudes and driving energy, gives the student and us a fairly good picture of what we can expect from them in the future. Now is the time to decide your future; we can only expose the students to these experiences and only they can make the most use of them. ADAM A. Vat io na j on or S.ct.l y Membership in the Madison Chapter of the National Honor Society is composed of sophomores, juniors, and seniors maintaining a B average or higher. The entire Honor Society participates in the election of class officers, working at the polls and helping with almost everything else involved. The Honor Society officers, and Senior class officers, along with Mr. Palcheff, Mr. Johnson, and Mr. Brown went to the parochial and public junior high schools to give some assistance to the students who will graduate to high school. Whenever important issues and problems arose, the Honor Society and Student Council were the first groups met with to discuss a better solution. STUDENT COUNCIL The Student Council members, elected by their respective classes in the fall, are the governing body of the school. Their job is to represent their classes in council meetings, pass school laws, and plan school activities. Each year they select the assemblies that will be presented to the student body the follow- ing year. The Student Council and Honor Society officers helped with the organization and administration of Career Day. 42 FIRST ROW: Bill Kalchoff, Sec.; Tal Fisk. V. Pres.; Mr. Adam Bumiski, Sponsor; Larry Lux, Pres.; Mary Hodges, Treas. The Madison Lions Club sponsored a banquet for the Honor Society members, in recognition of their scholastic achievement. Waji A o man Staff Mr, Lee Ashby, Co-Ordinator; Mr. William Coop, Under- Advertisements; Mr. John Phelan, Activities; Mr. Wayne grads; Mr. Earl McClanahan, Sports; Mr. Edward Votoupal, Carlisle, Seniors. These seniors, with the help of their patient sponsors, are responsible for this 1963 yearbook. Throughout the year, they thought, typed and pasted. The Madisonian Staff wishes to leave this thought to all future yearbook workers: What makes an extraordinary book is the extra put into the ordinary. Smiling and waiting as one of the faculty writes out a check for his 1963 Madisonian are Diana Fox, Barbara Watkins, and Mr. Lee Ashby, Yearbook Co-Ordinator. Also looking on is senior Bill Barton. DLe V a n Staff Our school paper is The Trojan, published by the Trojan Staff. Five six-week editions are turned out, with a special senior edition at the year's end. Each sophomore, junior, or senior interested in being on the paper staff must write an essay on the same given subject. Staff members are selected on the basis of their writing ability shown in this as- signment. AT RIGHT: Bill Smock, Editor; Diana Fox, Co- Editor. Another one of his ideas! When you finish recalling the vivid memories brought back to you by your annual, do not forget to give a close look to the advertisers, who have helped to make this annual possible. Show your appreciation to them by patronizing their business establishments often, for they deserve to receive our business just as we have received theirs. My final appeal to the students is this: SUPPORT OUR ADVERTISERS. You will find that your dollar will buy just as much from them as from anyone else.
