Class History I Well, we are in high school at last and the first thing on most of our minds is Initiation Day! (The dread of all freshmen.) We are walking around shivering in our shoes because high school is a new experience. We have survived the ordeal of Initiation Day and are finally getting organized. We start first by electing officers: Steve Maragides, President; Ferrell Simpson, Vice-President; Mike Costoff, Secretary; and Dorothy Williams, Treasurer. It seems as if we have brought luck to M. H. S., for our football team has won it’s first game in six years and the basketball team has gone to State for the first time in our school history. The freshmen who lettered this year are Mike Costoff and Ed Duffin. We remember that day in April, 1951 when we, the first freshman class, came to the new high school. We had been waiting for this day for years and our whole community had worked to see our school finally completed. It was a happy day for all of us. II Now, at last we can say we are no longer freshmen, and even’though we are still underclass- men, we have broken away from that freshman stage and are more active in school functions. Class officers this year are: Peggy Pryor, President; Mike Costoff, Vice-President; Shirley Howard, Secretary; Ed Duffin, Treasurer. Cheerleaders chosen out of our sophomore class are: Pat Kutzera, Gert Smith, and Lorna Marshall. Lettermen are: Mike Costoff, Ed Duffin, Raleigh Freeman, and Clarence Jordan. Our class is greatly increased by the arrival of the Dunbar students whom we are glad to have. III At last we are juniors! We have reached the half-way mark and are at last part of the upper- classmen of M. H. S. The officers elected this year are: Bob Lux, President; Don Hamilton, Vice-President; Shirley Howard, Secretary; Steve Maragides, Treasurer. Our three cheerlead- ers, elected the preceeding year, were promoted to Varsity Team Cheerleaders, and are doing a splendid job cheering our team on to victory. The Lettermen from the junior class are: Mike Costoff, Ed Duffin, Raleigh Freeman, Clarence Jordan, Jim Childers, Don Hamilton, John Kraus, Stan Lucas, Bob Lux, Tyrone Echols, Dio Foster, Mike Foster, John Hampton, James Salmond, and Dave Tucker. We are proud to have Ed Duffin as a representative of our junior class, on the Cross Country Team that is going to State this year. Our big event this year is the Junior Senior Prom. As our theme we have chosen ‘'Hearts And Hats. For all of us on the Prom Committee it is hard work, but we are having fun because the outcome will be a tremendous success. The last thing we are doing as juniors is to order class rings in preparation for the follow- ing year. IV Yes, we are seniors at last, and off to a good start. We have received our class rings and elected officers which are: Bob Lux, President; Die Foster, Vice-President; Shirley Howard, Secretary; and Don Hamilton, Treasurer. Cheerleaders again are; Pat Kutzera, Gert Smith, and Lorna Marshall. The Trojan Lettermen are: Mike Costoff, Ed Duffin, John Kraus, Raleigh Freeman, Clarence Jordan, Jim Childers, Don Hamilton, Stan Lucas, Bob Lux, Tyrone Echols, Dio Foster, Mike Foster, John Hampton, Ray Arnold, Bob Jones, Tom Loftus, Rudy Papa, Dick Gregg, Charles Svoboda, Dave Tucker, Earl Hines, Everett Hockerson, Marvin Terrell, James Salmond.
