Art Classes Shape Student Talents Varied art courses were offered this year con- taining many interesting projects. In the com- mercial art classesg place mats, posters, and menu covers were made for the Russian Ren- aissance Restaurant. In the spring, craft classes designed and flew their own kites. Ceramic classes enjoyed a sculpture project involving the human figure. Sand paintings were made, and the annual Italic Handwriting Contest was held. Business Education I nstructs s All Types Students interested in the business world found many courses designed to prepare them for this field. Those considering secre- tarial work enrolled in briefhand, shorthand, and typing classes. Typing proved popular with college-bound students while govern- ment mixed with business created the basis for business law courses. This year Madison's Distributive Education Club established and managed their own on- campus store which they named Ye Olde Shoppe. Profits from this activity were in- vested back into the store which sold jewelry, cards and candy in addition to regular school supplies. James Blake Mr. diStasio gets wlrat's in store for him.
