Librarians Offer Services Librarians Mrs. Constance Wickwire, Mrs. Retha Bowne and Mrs. Marian Smith are continually aiding students in their quest for knowledge. Mrs. Wickwire, who has now been here for four years, is the head librar- ian. Her assistants, Mrs. Bowne and Mrs. Smith, have both been here six years. They all agree that their busiest t job is after Christmas vacation and after spring vacation, l when all of the students bring back their books. Mrs- Constance Wickwire Mrs- Retha Bowne 7 Mrs. Marian Smith Mrs. Smith Keeps 555 Records Madison's student store is supervised by Mrs. Jessie Smith. The store handles all necessary school supplies including special art supplies for the art department, work books, and pocket reading. The store is also a bank for all school activities such as proceeds from dances and games. All of Madison's bills are paid through this main office, also the fees which are collected at the beginning of the year are paid here. Mrs. Smith was quoted as saying they handle about S100,000 dollars a year. T Mrs. Jessie Smith 30,000 Books Circulated Textbooks for the past five years at Madison have been in the capable hands of Mrs. Peggy Kernan. Over 30,000 books are handled each year in this room, and along with this they handle all the audio-visual equip- ment. Mrs. Peggy Kernan 11

Six Secretaries Aid Administration Miss Marguerite Sykes Mrs. Sharon McCourt Mrs. Bethel Edmon Mrs. Shirley Lombard Mrs. Roberta Shoop Mrs. Doyne McKinney Head secretary Miss Sykes leads a very busy schedule. She is personal secretary to Mr. Walter E. Erickson, school principal. Also she takes full responsibility of keeping the office rtmning smoothly. Mrs. McCourt waits on the counter, 'takes care of the cut slips and tardies, and all emergency excuses. Mrs. Edmon checks the attendance records and waits on the coun- ter. Mrs. Lombard is personal secretary to the vice-principals, checks the attendance records, and waits on the counter. Mrs. Shoop answers incoming calls, does all filing, waits on the counter, sorts the mail and does all photostat work. Mrs. McKinney does all of the clerical typing, filing, and is personal secretary for all of the counselors.
