Seann 74-'fchtofzq We were thlrty s1x strong healthy and green freshmen when we en tered Mad1son I-hgh School 1n Sep tember of 1949 After surv1va1 of 1n1t1at1on we became full fledged members of MHS The fall of 1950 found us one rung h1gher on the ladder of our h1gh school career We were now soph omores and could look down on the lowly freshmen Gur membersh1p had dropped to th1rty three The most 1mportant events of the year were two class partxes Another year flew by and we were m1ghty Jun1ors Thls year of 1951 '52 was f11led w1th many events and we were 1n the m1dst of lt all One 1mportant event was 1n1t1at1on when we revenged our m1sfortune wh1ch occurred two years prev1ous Prob the Jumor Sen1or banquet wh1ch featured a story book theme After the banquet a prom was held Other act1v1t1es of our Jun1or year were the class play Keep Movmg school paper and class part1es Ah' Semors at last and the top rung of the ladder Verna Major and B111 Brockhaus were crowned queen and lung of sports at the last home basketball game The class play Fxnders Keepers and career day at Wayne were the mam happemngs of Apr11 The last two months of our h1gh school days were f1lled to the br1m w1th events 1nclud1ng baccalaureate commencement and the last class p1cn1c We have tr1ed 1n the pages of thxs year book to capture Just a small portlon of the many happemngs of M H S 9 n ll , J ably the most important event ofoall was - 4- . ll . ,, . They were given a rousing welcome by the Jun- iors with an initiation party, after which they became full-fledged mem- bers of Madison High School. After becoming Juniors, they had many new tasks before themg such as initiating the freshmen, choosing class rings, presenting the class play and preparing a Junior-Senior ban- quet.
