WARD and SON 71 Wafer Street Building MGferiOiS Skowhegcn, Maine ,xx , Madison, Maine '71 During the last of August when the boys started practicing everyone was in good spirits. There was a lot of good spirit and confidence. Then, even before the first game, things began to happen. Dick McQuarrie, a three year letter man was injured and out for the remainder ofthe season. SKOWHEGAN 2l MADISON O CEXhibiti0IU The boys were in the dumps during the game. They lost another lineman and Bob Cyr had to be shifted to quarterback in a hurry. LAWRENCE 33 MADISON 6 The team couldn't get rolling on the ground but looked effec tive in the air, completing a good per cent of their passes. FARMINGTON 7 MADISON 27 The Bulldogs started to roar and they proved to themselves that they still could produce a ball team. WINSLOW 6 MADISON 21 This was one of the highlights of the year. The seniors, espe cially, wanted to win this one. They had been beaten three yea in a row by Winslow, and this win was a real team effort. JOHN BAPST I2 MADISON I9 The Bulldogs had a win streak going and they were working for it. Scoring in the first half Madison had to fight to hold the lead from a scrappy Bapst club. WILTON 20 MADISON I9 Again Madison scored all their points in the first half and trie to defend them. A good Wilton club proved able to do it, and w the game on an extra point. OLD TOWN I9 MADISON I3 This was a real thriller with the half-time score 7-7. In the 4th quarter Cyr got away for a 70 yard jaunt. This made it I3-7 in our favor with 7 minutes left. On two great drives Old Town tied it up and scored the extra point to win. BREWER 32 MADISON I4 Madison was out-classed during most of the game but they never said die. They fought up to the last minutes when Flanagir got away on a kick-off for a TD. SKOWHEGAN I3 MADISON 7 This was a gamel Madison, a team who was supposed to get swamped, played its best game. They outplayed their opponents most of the game. Several times they were within the ten yard line but could not push it over because of bad breaks. Coach Speed of Skowhegan, said that Madison really played a terrific game. So ended the season of '55 but for some it will linger on. A word of praise goes to the fellows who stayed out the whole season and to those on the injury list. Good Luck next year! 46 Compliments of H. C. AMERIN, M. D. Sandy Witherall moved to Lewiston in the middle of basketball season, but Janice O'Hara ably filled in for the rest of the year. The Home Ec. girls and Miss Lilley made new uniforms for the girls and the Jayvee squad acquired last year's suits. The cheerleaders made up many new cheers, one of the most popular being Madison Boys , sung to the tune of Dungaree Doll.
