Homecoming Queen-Diane Allen. Pirates select MH Ro alt to rule events Among the titles awarded to Pirates throughout the year were Home- coming Queen, TREASURE CHEST Queen, Miss Scarlet, Mr. Black, and Prom Queen. Finalizing the festivities of Home- coming was the coronation of the 1970 Queen. For the second year in a row the TREASURE CHEST Queen was announced at the last home basketball game. The cere- mony took place during halftime, with eleven senior girls vying for the honor. Miss Scarlet and Mr. Black were honored by MH during Sectional Week by representing Pirate spirit. The candidates were nominated from each class. The 1971 Prom Queen was elected by the boys in the junior class to reign over A Time For Us . -Lil Miss Scarlet and Mr. Black hopefuls are announced prior to Red and Black Week. W 3 i ilf all

Crganization awards, honors recognize deserving irates EXCHANGE STUDENTS-Polly Trimble, Helge Brochman, Jytte Pederson. The Music Department gave awards to outstanding music stu- dents. Mr. James Patton chose Doug Hawkins as recipient of the Sousa Award. Mr. William Frame present- ed the Arion Awards, given annually to choir students, to senior Neal Moore andjunior Dave Hilburt. Drum Majors Doug Hawkins and Randy Bennett and Head Majorette Darlene Hensley led the Madison Heights' Band to an eighth place berth on State Fair Band Day. Editors put together MH's publi- cations. Editor Becky Stark led the Treasure Chest staff. Mary Ann Fox and Sandy Hull filled the positions of co-editors for the Jolly Roger.
