JOLLY ROGER becomes bi-weekl publication Alternating JOLLY ROGER editors Mary Ann Fox and Sandy Hull lay their accomplishments before them. The JOLLY ROGER returned to printing a bi-weekly paper after two years of weekly issues. Mr. Ed Roettinger advised the four- teen member staff. Mary Ann Fox led the group as editor the first se- mester while Sandy Hull took the posi- tion during the second semester. Each page was planned by co-editors. Sandy Hull and Cathy Coats were front page editors first semester and Mary Ann replaced Sandy the last half of the year. Vicki Michael and Gary Bullock combined their efforts on the editorial page while Robyn Massenale and Gayle Hite were responsible for the feature page. Sports editors for the year were Tom Ferguson and Tim Phillips. Re- porters were Tim Caldwell, Debbie Esche, and Dave McIntyre. The second semester 1969-70 JOL- LY ROGER received an All Amer- ican rating from the National Scholastic Press Association. Jennifer Vinson headed the staff as editor. Editor-in- chief Becky Stark began plans for the book last spring. With the aid of advisor Ann Smith, 19 staff members worked daily during homeroom peri- od to prepare a record of memories of Pirate activities and events. The I-Q stan' found work sessions occu- pied many weekends throughout the year in order to complete major dead- lines. Copy Editor Cathy Zerkle made sure members of her staff completed copy assignments in time. Elaine Mauck, heading the Picture Staff, was kept busy scheduling photog- raphy required in upcoming dead- lines. Varied layouts for each page were prepared by the Layout Staff, under Mary Brewster. Fred McGuire, as Sports Editor, supervised his staff in recording Madison Heights sports events during the 1970-71 school year. Managing yearbook sales and filing necessary records were among the duties of Business Editor Bob Wilkinson.
