Paced by Dick Armstrong, state medalist, with an 18 hole score of 74, and four year veteran, Jerry Williams, with a 75; Dave Harmon and John Mills, contributed to a low team score of 317, good enough for first place honors. Coach Gordon toughened the boys against some of the state ' s best teams during the regular season. The Pirates appeared in the tough LaPorte tourney for the first time and placed third the first time boys had played on that course.
