Zhe School Mr. A. J. Camden SUtperintevdent In our present age, the word “Static has lost much of its former meaning. We have learned that institutions of all kinds, especially of learning, either progress or rotn gross. Institution; and system; which standardize their thinking and practices do not maintain their status quo ante. The onrush of progress without their boundaries add up to retrogression. Our superintendent and school board are well aware of this trend, and to them “Progress” is their watchword. To them, the word “Dynamic” is more expre sive of their attitude, thinking and action. .Mrs. Bess . Shrader Mr. Jack F. Thomas Mr. Ashby Woods Mr. Herbert J. Camden

Dear Students: The word “Adventure” carries with it many pleasant meanings to most students. At times, the everyday routine of life becomes monotonous to us all, We wish to experience the unusual. Some of tht most thrilling pages of history are the records of men who dared to go or do the unknown, regardless of the consequences to them personally. The adventures of Columbus, .John Smith, Magellan, I)e Soto and others are read with interest and sometimes with envy. However, we know today the possibilities offered to these great men of the past are not available to us. This should not prove discouraging to any one. The opportunities for pioneering are different today from those of the past, but much greater and more challenging. Geographically, we have few places to explore; socially, we have just begun. In our social developments, some feel that we are suffering from a “social lag.” Advancements in transportation and communications have brought us closer together. These developments have brought communities, counties, states, and nations into closer and closer relationships. In fact, it has been said that we are all living in a large neighborhood, that we know that all is not well. Wars have been and are being fought; crime is on the increase; homes are being broken up; communities divided, and people unhappy. Tl : ■ is your challenge, and your great opportunity to become a “Pioneer.” e ' and courage of the “adventurer” are required. You can do much the neighborly feeling in your neighborhood, be it on a community basis and thus contribute much to the progress of mankind. Sincerely, Tyler Fulcher
