fttadiJCh Heights High £chetl (Class iijistnrii On a day in September 1946, we, a band of 95 weary knights, set out on a conquest to gain new wealth in the form of knowledge. We were very fortunate indeed to have as our leaders in the first phase of the battle, Mrs. Powell, Mrs. McDermott, and Mrs. Arthur who were well informed and experienced in this type of encounter. For our able captains we chose Mary Stuart Taylor, President; Caleb Stowe, Vice-President; Gene Peters, Secretary and Treasurer and Dorothy White as our class representative. In this, our first battle, we were defeated many times, but under the rule of Mr. Fulcher, we finally won and set out for more wealth. In our second pilgrimage, we felt more confident as our armor was stronger and we had more experience. Although 27 ot our number had fallen in battle or deserted, we still were a courageous and hard-fighting group. Our capable commanders were Mrs. Butler and Miss MacPherson, who contributed much to build our character and further increase achievements as knights. To serve as our guides we chose Warren Rucker, President; Denise Hubbard, Vice-President; Laban Coleman, Secretary; Emmett Carson, Treasurer and Barbara Linthicum and Shirley Ewers as Representatives. Although we were weak and our armor badly worn by now, we were gradually mastering the struggle for knowledge. As a reward for our efforts, the title of Juniors was bestowed upon us. For this encounter, we had as our faithful leaders Miss Easterling and Mrs. Sandidge. To aid us in our work, we elected Joel Stowe, President; Laban Coleman, Vice-President; Warren Rucker, Secretary; Richard Holt, Treasurer; and Peggy McConnell, Gene Peters, and Juanita Thomas as class Representatives. In commemoration of our victories and our winning ability, we received our class rings, for which we had waited so many weary years. During this year we experienced the delight of being taken into many of the various clubs and in being invited to the Junior-Senior Banquet and Dance and the Junior-Senior Picnic. Now we were prepared to enter the Senior Class of our knighthood. We had served our apprenticeship well, and we had earned the privilege of becoming Seniors. Our Senior sponsors, to whom we owe much of our success, were Mrs. Davis and Miss Mitchell. As our President, we elected Laban Coleman; Vice-President, Richard Holt; Secretary, Lynn Woody; and Treasurer, John Walker. We elected Juanita Thomas, Gene Peters, Peggy McConnell, and George Pulliam for our class representatives. Our Senior Year was highlighted by such events as the Senior Play and the Junior-Senior Banquet and Dance. After such a long but delightful struggle, we finally have come to the end of this comradeship, and each of us must take his own course of life, inspired by the dear old Alma Mater and the teachers and our classmates who have not yet reached this goal. -! 23 I-
