1945 MONELISON CLASS WILL We, the Senior Class of Madison Heights High School for the year 1944-1945, being physically sound after Mrs. Doyle’s tyranny and mentally unstable as a result of all the homework we have experienced do bequeath the following effects: ITEM I To the Faculty, we will: 1. To Mrs. Doyle, a public address system and a baseball bat to control her physical education students. 2. To Mr. Fulcher, some students who will refrain from walking on the beautiful lawn. 3. To Mrs. Davis, some time and a place to practice the Senior Play. 4. To Mrs. McDermott, a machine that will write “I Must Do What I'm Told,” so that the students won’t have to do it. 5. To Miss MacPherson, some students who will do their homework. 6. To Mrs. White, some chemicals and other sorely needed equipment for the lab. 7. To M rs. Kelly, a place on the Madison Heights Faculty reserved for “Susie” in 1965. 8. To Mrs. Lacks, another “Slug” to keep her company while she is waiting. 9. To M rs. Butler, a bouncer for the library to conserve her energy. 10. To Mrs. Stone, a pair of roller skates to enable her to get around the school faster. 11. To M iss Mitchell, a few more odd jobs, since she has such a little to do. 12. To Mrs. Powell, a special heating system for her room. 13. To Miss Buckner, another “Slug” and Leonard to chase around and around. 14. To Mrs. Steward, some boys who will sing loudly enough in the Glee Club. ITEM II To the Juniors, we will: 1. The opportunity to struggle for Senior privileges marked by greater success than we have enjoyed. 2. Boys young enough to graduate before being called for induction into the Service. ITEM III To the Sophomores, we will: 1. Our ability to get along with the teachers. 2. The privilege of having Miss Mitchell as a sponsor next year.

Madison Heights Future Times FAMOUS OPERA SINGER TO APPEAR AT MADISON HEIGHTS HIGH SCHOOL Miss Virginia Hudnall ot Madison Heights, Virginia will sing her famous number, “My Hr .“ ore of the b« s solos of the Metropolitan, which was composed hy Mr. Harry Single ton, who has won both national and international acclaim as the ration's foremost composer. Having replaced t h e once famous Hans Kindler, Mr. Singleton will conduct the music for which he is well known. TWO MODELS HIT LYNCHBURG ON THEIR TOUR OF THE UNITED STATES Mrs. William Burford. the former Dorothy Allen and Miss Faye Stump, two of the best known models of the coun-try. are passing through Lynchburg at two o'clock for poses which will be taken by a Commercial Photographer well known in Lynchburg as Leonard Duncan Spivey. From Lynchburg they will continue their tour to Six mile Bridge, Virginia where they will be greeted by Bur nice Morcom, the recently elected Mayor of that city. GEOMETRY BOOK PUBLISHED BY DRIVER Miss Joan Driver has at last published a new Geometry Book entitled. “Math-As You Like It. This book contains no propositions, no circles and no definitions. It is a simpli-Tied course in order that this generation will preserve light bulbs. SPORTS NEWS— Abbitt and Cash Win Cup in Basketball Game Misses Joan Abbitt and Joyce Cash won the cup awarded by Walter Ragland, head of the Madison Heights Athletic Association, when they defeated “Stag Basket ball team last evening. Mr. Ragland himself has received cups and medals for his athle tic powers and splendid sports manship. INTERIOR DECORATOR VISITS LYNCHBURG Miss Jean Owens, a former member of the Madison Heights High School, visited Lynchburg yesterday to ad dress women's societies con ccrning modern interior dc corating improvements for decorating the interiors of their club. Cadet nurses, Loricnc Freeman and Frances Campbell stated today in a conversation at Norma Ramsey's wedding reception that the leading hospitals advocate the practice of Dr. Paula Sue Gibbs' Theory to either kill or cure. Morris, announces his intention of visiting South America where he plans to build a dam which will convert the north to south course of the Amazon River to the direction of east and west. Whether or not the South Americans will approve the project is a much-debated question. ■ ■ o TEACHER OF SWEET BRIAR COLLEGE TO ADDRESS MADISON HEIGHTS H. S. Patsy Smith, a graduate of the Madison Heights High School, who is now a teacher of Sweet Briar College will give a talk to the girls and try to interest them in attending college. Her assistant was Miss Jeane Grant who recently made Superintendent at Sweet Briar College. She came also to help encourage the girl students. LADY MADE SUPERINTENDENT OF AMHERST COUNTY SCHOOLS Miss June Ruckncr was recently made Superintendent of Amherst County schools which makes the first time a lady has ever been able to become superintendent of any school.
