On December 7, 1942, with the deepest regret we bade farewell to one of our classmates, Maynard (Peck) Magann, who left to join Uncle Sam’s army. “Peck”? was a good sport, athlete, and a true friend to all. His loyalty to school, home and country cannot be surpassed. His kindness, politeness, and consideration of others stand out foremost in our memories. We, the seniors, have esteemed it an honor to be ‘‘Peck’s’’ classmates and to have had such a friend in him. We have all heard the phrase, ““The army needs good - men’’—-now we can feel assured that it has a good one in the person of ‘“‘Peck’’ Magann. Take a slap at a Jap for us who are on the home front— Good luck, ‘‘Peck!”’
