Growing Pains George and Terry Mclntyre, played by Robert Duckert and Katherine Murray respectively, were problem children. Their father, Gerald Freeman, a college professor, frequently tried to lay down the law. Their softfhearted mother, Dorothy Heick, could not bear to cross her children. The result was a pair of very bewildered parents. Matters were made more complicated by the vampishness of Prudence, Marge Nickles, one of the guests at a party given by the doting mother for her spoiled children. The operetta tells the story of a hored ladyflnfwaiting to Queen Anne who, masquerading as a servant girl, found romance in a farmer's cottage. A colorful array of costumes and scenery, and choruses of court ladies, servant girls, farmers and their wives added much to the success of the production. HAKE Football Coach Athletic Director HBH Fvotball Coach Mr. Barrett Although our material in football was not rated exceptionally high, Mr. Barrett developed a team which won, for the first time, the Big Eight Championship. The splendid record of the squad was the result of his thorough instruction and training in fundamentals. For the line showing of his football team, the highest praise is due Mr. Barrett. Mr. Morrow Mr. Morrow deserves credit for his excellent work as director of athletics. Under his supervision, a splendid sports organization is made possible. The intramural pro' gram which has been developed in the last few years is also under his supervision, as are the track activities. MT. Hake Mr. Hake has worked with the B football team for many years. It is he who gives thc players, later to be stars of the team, their grounding in the fundamentals. Neither team was in good form, but East came out with a victory after getting the breaks throughout the contest. Beloit The second Big Eight start was against the highly touted Beloit team who were heavy favorites to win the title this season. East emerged victorious with a score of 26f7. West In the game with Madison West, East scored an easy 18f0 victory. The power 1 ' . . , . . 4 and deception oi East were the deciding factors in the outcome which was never in doubt. Racine H orliclq The East team played sluggish football against Racine Horlick but won handily 13f0. The game was not well played, but the opposition was weak and the resulting score was inevitable. . East's second team played the entire second half after a substantial lead was established. Kenosha In a fast contest East won a clinch for the title by taking Kenosha 27f0. East scored three touchdowns in the first half, and then played defensively the remainder of the game. Central East was crowned Big Eight and City champions by defeating Madison Central 17f0. The game was marked by brilliant play on both sides. Central battled to no ends, but was defeated by a better team in all manner of play. The district haskethall tournament was a harcl fought contest, but East came out ahead ancl won the right to enter the state tournament. The state tournament found East losing its first game to Superior Central who went on to win the state title. East came away with the consolation championship. District Championship State Consolation Page 102 .l93l5 TUWEIQ TALES Miss HANsoN Miss WIIITIZ Miss Hanson Due to Miss Hansen's splendid coaching ahility, the girls' athletic program at East High was carried on successfully. She inspired her students with the spirit of good sportsmanship, and a satisfactory haskethall and hasehall season was the result. Besides coaching afterfschool sports, Miss Hansen also had charge of physical education, sports, and interpretive dancing classes. The introduction of tennis for girls was under her direction. The fundamental rules of the game were stressed in order to teach the girls to play a good game. Miss White Witli a sense of humor and a ready wit, Miss White leads her classes through the paces. She instructs classes in sports: volley hall, haskethall, and haseball making up the year's work. She also coaches afterfschool sports and has directed dancing for many outside activities. The large enrollment in tap dancing classes proves its popularity under Miss White's supervision. Girls' Tap Dancing Class Who knows? One of these fair tappers may he a future Ginger Rogers.
