On the military front, our losses have been even more spectacular. Russia was the first nation to launch an earth satellite, with the imme ns e propaganda advantage gained. Russia has set the aggressive pace in the development of intermediate and long r ang e guided missles - the greatest and most dangerous instruments of war. Unless we have the technical men in our industry...in the military forces...in the research - we s tand to lose not only our prosperity - but perhaps even our freedom and lives as well. It's a g r ave stiuation. But you can help to do something about it. First, you can train yourself in the ne c e s s ar y mechanical, scientific and technical subjects. Second, you can remain in school as long as possible, realizing that a high school education is the minimum requirement in specialized industrial work. A technicallcareer can offe r you more than rewarding, gratifying work - it will help you pave the way to a more secure, more productive nation. VIRGINIA METAL PRODUCTS, INC.
