We wish to commend Superintendent of Schools Philip H. Falk and the Madison Board of Education for their awareness of Central High School's growing needs during the past few years. In these days of great city growth and expansion, it is encouraging to note that our superintendent and the Board oi Education are keeping our schools in step with this growth and are at the same time using keen foresight in planning for Madison's future educational needs. Future plans necessarily include new schools, new classrooms, and new equipment. Future plans must also include the maintenance and renovation of the older schools, of which Central High School is proud to claim its place as the original Madison High School. Therefore, we wish to express our gratitude to Superintendent of Schools Philip H. Falk and the Madison Board of Education for such recent improvements in our school as the new front entranceway, the tiling in our corridors, new lighting in many of our rooms, new lockers, new stage lighting, the expansion of the Central auditorium stage, and the many more building improvements that have made our school a more pleasant and convenient place in which to work, study, and play. Members of the Madison Board of Education are: Mr. Glenn W. Stephens, President; Dr. R. W. Huegel, Vice President; Mr. Ray F. Sennctt, Treasurer; Professor Erwin A. Gaumnitz; Mrs. E. J. Samp; Mr. Herbert J. Schmiege; and Mr. A. H. Younger. 6

For nearly half a century Central High School has housed and educated thousands of Madison pupils. With the same sturdy walls and with some of the atmosphere of the Halls of Ivy, but with a good deal of renovating, modern equipment, lighting, and an attractive brightening up of the entire building, we are making ready for the next half of the century. 7
